May is National Cancer Research Month: A Message from InnovaCore Center for Research and Biotechnology
This year, an estimated 2.1 million Americans will hear the words "you have cancer." But here is what is also true: the five-year cancer survival rate has climbed from 49% to 70% in our lifetime. None of that was inevitable.
This year's theme is United by Cancer Research. It captures something we believe deeply: cancer is not defeated by any one institution. It slowly yields to the shared interdisciplinary work of investigators, clinicians, laboratories, and patients worldwide.
INNOVACORE was built to close that gap. As a physician-founded, fully integrated clinical research entity headquartered in San Antonio, we operate with a network of multispecialty physician-investigators across the United States and internationally, including partners at the Indus Hospital & Health Network in Pakistan and the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, and a growing footprint of community and academic sites across the U.S. South and Southwest.
Nationally, INNOVACORE has partnerships with the Jones-Dunklin Cancer Center at Jefferson Regional in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Oklahoma Cancer & Blood Specialists, Oklahoma, bringing clinical trials to regions where the cancer burden is among the highest in the country and access to research has historically been limited. This network is built on a single principle: breakthrough research must reach the communities where need is greatest.
To the investigators, coordinators, patients, and partner institutions who make this work possible, thank you. United by cancer research, indeed.
