Today we celebrated the Feast Day of Saint Rose of Lima, honoring the patron saint of our ministry 🙏🌹💜

Through fellowship and a special crowning ceremony, we came together in faith, gratitude and joy to celebrate her enduring legacy of compassion and service.

Saint Rose of Lima was the first person born in the Americas to be canonized as a Catholic saint. Her life of prayer, charity and care for those in need continues to inspire us in our healing ministry today.

May Saint Rose’s example remind us of the power of faith, compassion and serving others.

Built on the legacy of our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the CVICU brings cardiology, critical care and cardiac surgery teams together to provide highly specialized, compassionate care for children with complex heart conditions.
Behind this milestone is a team of dedicated nurses, physicians, and Associates who show up every day for our patients and their families. Their expertise, collaboration and compassion are helping create a future filled with more possibilities for children with heart conditions.

Back-to-school means more recess, playground time and sports—which can also mean more bumps and bruises! 🛝🏃‍♀️
Pediatrician Dr. Kara Teraguchi shares a few simple safety reminders:
💧 Keep kids hydrated, especially in the heat.
🩹 Clean cuts and scrapes with soap and running water—skip the hydrogen peroxide and alcohol.
🏃 Let sports injuries fully heal before returning to play.
👟 Choose secure, well-fitting shoes for the playground.

When in doubt about an injury, seek medical guidance.
If a child won't use a limb, can't stop crying, has significant swelling or bruising, or won't stop bleeding, it should be evaluated promptly. When you're unsure where to go, your pediatrician's office or one of our 3 emergency centers around town.
