Jesus calls His followers to stand with people who are oppressed, abused, ignored, or treated unjustly.

He proclaimed freedom for the oppressed (Luke 4:18), taught that caring for “the least of these” is caring for Him (Matthew 25:40), and confronted powerful religious leaders who neglected justice and mercy (Matthew 23:23). Scripture also says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves” and defend the rights of the poor and needy (Proverbs 31:8–9).

Psalm 34:14 does not mean remaining silent to avoid uncomfortable conflict. True peace is not pretending wrongdoing does not exist. Sometimes pursuing peace requires exposing harm, protecting victims, establishing boundaries, reporting facts, and seeking lawful accountability.

The Christian standard is to do that truthfully and courageously—without exaggeration, hatred, humiliation, or revenge. We can be a voice for the oppressed while still praying for everyone involved and seeking justice, repentance, healing, and genuine peace.
