Sinus infections can be acute (short-term, lasting 2–4 weeks) or chronic (persisting for 12 weeks or more). To keep comfortable at home, some use a warm, moist washcloth as a compress, a humidifier to moisten the air, plenty of water to stay hydrated, and sleeping with the head elevated.

If symptoms persist or keep returning, an ENT visit can help you figure out the cause and the best treatment path.
