Born at 22 weeks gestation, Aunyx has been a fighter from day one. He came home from the hospital with oxygen, a g-tube, and a laundry list of medications. His mom felt overwhelmed at first. But that feeling didn’t last long, thanks to Nurse Vania.

Vania's expert care and calm presence immediately put his family at ease. Vania helps Aunyx thrive at home and helps his mom balance the needs of a medically fragile newborn with the needs of her four older children. Her care is truly invaluable.

We are excited to see Aunyx continue to grow and are so grateful to Vania for the impact her compassionate care makes every day!

Bauer was born at just 22 weeks gestation, and the progress he's made at Aveanna is a true miracle.

He began services after he was discharged out of the NICU. After coming home with a tracheostomy, ventilator, and a g-tube for feeding, his family sought stability for their son's complex care journey. Nurse Christy was their answer, supporting Bauer's family through setbacks and celebrating his victories over the years.

"Nurse Christy has walked alongside us through some of the hardest seasons of our lives," said Bauer's family. "Thank you for believing in Bauer and for caring for him in a way that went far beyond your job title. You will always be a part of his story.”

As Bauer graduates from services at Aveanna and continues to grow into a busy, thriving boy, his next adventure is already on the horizon: the start of Pre-K! We cannot wait to see all the amazing things he'll continue to do.

When Blake joined Aveanna in 2024 after a 6-month stay in the NICU, he instantly formed a connection with Nurse Kaitlyn.

Through the years, she's been his cheerleader for every developmental milestone, an advocate for his care, and a devoted part of his Aveana team. With Blake's complex medical and respiratory needs, Kaitlyn's guidance has given his family stability in his care journey since leaving the hospital.

"Knowing Blake has a nurse who treats him with such kindness, patience, and genuine care gives our family so much peace of mind," said his family. "We are truly grateful for everything she does—not just for Blake, but for our entire family. She has made such a positive difference our lives."

What inspired you to work in healthcare?
Working as a receptionist in an orthopedic surgeon’s office as my first job inspired me to pursue healthcare since I always have been passionate about helping people, especially during vulnerable times.

Favorite part of your role?
The most rewarding part of my role is being able to support patients and their families during important moments in their care.

Favorite San Diego activity?
The water!! I moved here from Las Vegas for the ocean! So paddleboarding, boogie boarding, swimming, hanging out for hours at the beach, day or night.. bonfires.. anything water/beach related in San Diego. I am yet to learn how to surf!

Fun Fact: I'm secretly an aspiring filmmaker/photographer.

Outside of work: You’ll find me venturing out, camera in hand, searching for beautiful places and good stories; traveling, watching movies; trying new restaurants or playing video/board games with my son.

What inspired you to work in healthcare?
My passion for healthcare grew from seeing how important compassionate care and advocacy are for families navigating medical challenges.

Favorite part of your role?
My favorite part of my role is knowing that the work I do behind the scenes directly impacts patient care. I enjoy supporting our clinical teams, ensuring compliance, solving problems, and helping families get the resources they need. I especially love building relationships with patients, families, and referral sources and being able to advocate for those who need additional support.

Favorite San Diego activity?
Cali cafe & then walking at sunset cliffs

Fun Fact:
My camera roll is mostly photos of my daughter, scenic views, and screenshots of things I meant to remember.

Outside of work:
You'll find me outside somewhere with my daughter, in my house cleaning, or coloring.
