Ashi points are the body’s “hot spots” of dysfunction. These tender areas often form where muscles are tight, fascia is restricted, nerves are irritated, or inflammation has built up. By needling these reactive points, acupuncture can help: • reduce muscle guarding • improve local blood flow • calm irritated nerves • release myofascial tension • decrease pain signaling in the nervous system

A compressed nerve root, often from a disc issue, becomes inflamed and sensitive. Surrounding muscles like the glutes and piriformis tighten in response, adding even more pressure to the nerve. Acupuncture helps break that cycle. Local needling releases tight muscles and takes pressure off the nerve. It also increases blood flow to the area, helping move out inflammatory buildup and bring in nutrients for healing, like flushing out a congested space. At the same time, it calms the nervous system so the nerve becomes less reactive and pain signals decrease. Less pressure, less inflammation, and less pain.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), hair loss can be associated with yin deficiency. Specifically, Kidney Yin deficiency is often linked to hair loss, as the Kidneys are believed to store and nourish the body’s essence, which is essential for hair growth. Additionally, Liver and Kidney deficiencies are also associated with hair loss, particularly in those who overthink or have a stressful lifestyle.

Low back pain isn’t just structural, it’s neurological, inflammatory, and muscular. These points target each layer: DU 3 -calming the irritated area at the source BL 60 -turning down pain signals and restoring movement KID 3 -strengthening the system so pain doesn’t keep returning This combination can help with: Muscle tension and tightness from posture or overuse Disc related pain such as bulging or herniated discs Sciatica with radiating nerve pain down the leg Arthritic low back pain with inflammation and joint stiffness Spinal stenosis with nerve compression and pain with standing or walking Chronic low back weakness or instability Stiffness and restricted movement

Treatment of bulging disc, herniated disc, and slipped disc with ACUPUNCTURE! Acupuncture works on multiple physiological levels: • Muscle + fascia: It reduces overactive muscle tone and improves activation of underused muscles, helping restore balanced tension around the spine. This decreases the mechanical pull that’s stressing the disc. • Nervous system regulation: It shifts the body out of a sympathetic (“fight or flight”) state into a parasympathetic state, reducing muscle guarding and chronic tension patterns. • Pain modulation: Acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins and enkephalins (your body’s natural painkillers) and downregulates pain signaling in the central nervous system. • Inflammation control: It has been shown to reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines and increase local circulation, helping bring oxygen and nutrients to the injured disc area while clearing inflammatory waste. • Blood flow + healing: Improved microcirculation supports tissue repair in surrounding structures, which is key since discs themselves have limited direct blood supply.

Jacqueline was initially unsure about acupuncture, but after experiencing the changes for herself, she now makes it part of her monthly routine.
With consistent treatments, she’s noticed real improvements in her sleep, digestion, and overall stress levels.
What started as curiosity turned into something she now relies on to feel more balanced, rested, and like herself again.

Jacqueline’s treatment is her monthly reset.
We start with fascial decompression using cupping across the neck and shoulders. With all the computer work and time spent in static positions, the tissues can become compressed and stagnant. Cupping gently lifts and separates those layers, improving circulation and giving the muscles space to relax. As fresh blood flow comes in and metabolic waste moves out, that built-up tension starts to release, and the body shifts out of that stressed, “tight” state.
Then we move into acupuncture, including a combination I use called the Buddha’s Triangle.
These points work together to deeply calm the nervous system. They help regulate the stress response, slow down an overactive mind, and signal the body that it’s safe to relax. Physiologically, this can increase parasympathetic activity (your “rest and digest” mode), reduce stress hormones like cortisol, and release endorphins and serotonin—chemicals that naturally promote relaxation and a sense of well-being.
That’s why people don’t just feel “less pain”… they feel lighter, calmer, and more grounded after.
We finish with infrared therapy.
Infrared heat penetrates deeper than traditional heat, helping to increase circulation, relax muscles, and support cellular recovery. It also promotes detoxification through gentle sweating and can enhance the overall calming effect of the treatment by further supporting blood flow and nervous system regulation.
All together, it’s not just symptom relief, it’s a full system reset.

Javier’s Holistic San Diego story. Was once an acupuncture skeptic and now completely wowed by the results!

Neck + shoulder tension from long hours of truck driving can start to refer pain into the head and behind the eye.
Prolonged sitting and repetitive positioning overload muscles like the upper trapezius, levator scapulae, and suboccipitals, creating myofascial trigger points. These trigger points can refer pain in predictable patterns, often traveling from the neck into the temple or eye region.
Acupuncture helps by:
Releasing tight muscle fibers and deactivating trigger points
Increasing local blood flow and oxygenation
Modulating the nervous system to reduce pain signaling
Improving muscle coordination and reducing overuse patterns
This isn’t just symptom relief, it’s helping restore how the muscles and nervous system are functioning.
