Two and half weeks ago, our residents had to leave home because of a fire.
What happened next is something none of us will ever forget.
Our staff moved without hesitation. They protected, reassured, carried, guided, comforted, and did whatever needed to be done to get our residents to safety. Neighbors came running over to help evacuate and then stayed with our residents so they wouldn’t be alone.
The LOT brought chairs and drinks. The Flower Pot brought lemonade and pastries and kept their restroom open for residents and staff. White Sands showed up with a van ready to help. Chateau La Jolla walked down to lend a hand. The Cove, ActivCare, White Sands, and Chateau La Jolla opened their doors and welcomed our residents in.
For a few hours, there were no competitors. No business lines. No hesitation.
There were just people taking care of people.
And less than 48 hours later, our team brought our residents home.
That homecoming meant more than words can say.
Home is not just a building.
Home is the people who show up when everything feels uncertain.
Home is the hands that reach for you.
Home is knowing you are not alone.
