**MYTH OR FACT?**

Injured teenage soccer players struggle mentally and emotionally too?

**Fact:** Injuries can impact mental health, too.

A 2026 study of 668 ECNL soccer players ages 13 - 19 found that injured players reported significantly higher depression scores than both recovered and uninjured athletes. The study also found that emotional challenges can continue even after physical recovery.

When supporting injured players, we need to focus on more than the body. Mental recovery matters, too.
