Small habit that builds resilience 👇

The habit: Name one win before bed.

What to do:
At the end of the day, name one thing you handled well.

Examples:

• I kept working after a mistake.
• I stayed patient when I felt frustrated.
• I tried something that was hard for me.

Why it helps:
Noticing small wins helps build confidence and keeps one tough moment from defining the whole day.

Small, repeatable habits build mental resilience. ⚽

Parents—how you respond to challenging moments shapes how your player learns to handle adversity 👇

⚽ Model emotional control.
Your reactions teach them how to handle adversity.

⚽ Celebrate brave plays.
Praise their confidence to try difficult things, even when they fail.

⚽ Keep perspective during tough games.
Help them separate their performance from their self-worth.

That’s how resilience is built over time.

Resilient players still need support 🤝

Mental resilience does not mean the need for support disappears.

It means players develop the skills to ask for help, accept support, and respond to what they’re experiencing.

The goal isn’t to handle everything alone.

It’s to know how to respond.

Tip from a Pro: Michelle Betos ⚽

Turn nerves into preparation.

Nervousness before big moments, like penalty kicks or fitness tests, is natural.

⚽ Use breath work to calm your heart rate
⚽ Start the moment feeling in control
⚽ Perform without battling unnecessary tension

Preparation does not mean eliminating nerves. It means knowing how to respond to them.

Soccer moments that build resilience 👇

⚽ When you come back from injury and do not feel like yourself yet. That moment when your body may be back, but your confidence has not caught up.

You cannot force confidence to return. You can rebuild trust one moment at a time.

Not feeling like yourself does not mean something is wrong.

Your mental recovery is part of your return.

Players—how you prepare mentally shapes how you perform 👇

⚽ Prepare for bad moments.
Expect mistakes, pressure, and adversity so they don’t surprise you mentally.

⚽ Train your eyes.
Scan earlier and more often to slow the game down mentally.

⚽ Be hard to distract.
Refocus quickly after missed calls, noise, mistakes, or outside pressure.

Prepare for challenges before they happen so you can respond effectively when they do.

🧠 Mental resilience is not being positive every second.

It is noticing hard thoughts without letting them control the next play.

You don’t have to eliminate every negative thought.

You can notice it and choose your response.

A skill for this moment 👇

When you are stuck on the last play:

⚽ Next-play focus

Examples:

• Name the next job
• Get into position
• Re-engage right away

You don’t need to stay focused on what just happened.

The game keeps moving. Your focus has to move with it.

Resilient players still become frustrated 😬.

Mental resilience does not mean frustration disappears.

It means learning how to respond.

The goal isn’t to remove frustration.

It’s to respond to it.
