This is my favorite relaxing breath. I learned it from and use it often. I call it The Gateway Breath because once you feel how nicely this breath relaxes you, you will be interested in and curious about how you can keep that feeling going. Then you will be in a better place to learn more about different mindfulness practices (especially if you are a newbie to the concept). Start by finding a quiet place and sit upright with your back straight and feet on the ground.

Psychiatric and neurologic disorders including depression, cognitive decline, Parkinson’s disease, autism spectrum disorder and epilepsy have all been shown to be affected by our dietary habits.

Many of the dietary benefits on microbiome and brain health have been attributed to anti-inflammatory effects mediated by the microbial metabolites of dietary fiber and polyphenols. We want to know:

• how diverse the ecosystem is,
• how resilient it is,
• how well it can keep balance,
