PCOS has a new name and it’s a huge upgrade!

As of May 2026, PCOS is officially PMOS: Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. The rename isn’t just cosmetic, it finally acknowledges the system-wide dysfunction that can occur with this condition.

The change to diagnostic criteria and treatment recommendations more closely matches the hormone, metabolism, energy, mental health, and fertility disruptions we all know are there!

We wrote a full breakdown of what PMOS means, why the old name was getting in the way of good care, and what this shift means for you!

We’re growing, and we’re looking for our fifth!

Natural Harmony Reproductive Health has been building something special in San Diego since 2015, and a big part of that is our team. Four providers who genuinely love working together and learning from each other. One of our providers just celebrated her seventh year with us, and that kind of longevity reflects the culture we’ve worked hard to create.
Now we have room for one more.

We’re looking for a reproductive health acupuncturist to join us: someone with a strong foundation in fertility and endometriosis care, a gift for building rapport with patients who are navigating a lot, and a collaborative spirit that fits into what we’ve built here.

This role starts with coverage for one of our providers on maternity leave, with an ongoing schedule of 4 days/week. ABORM fellow or working toward it? We’d especially love to hear from you.

If you’re looking for a place to actually stay, where the work is meaningful and the people around you make it better — this might be it.

Link in bio for the full job posting and application details. We can’t wait to meet you.

The science is catching up to what we’ve been seeing clinically for years and we’re excited to share these new findings during National Infertility Awareness Week 👏🏼

Research from the past 12 months shows the efficacy of acupuncture, herbs and supplements on PCOS outcomes when paired with tried and true western medical intervention.

We love to see this research being done and love the significance of these findings even more 🩷

Endometriosis is more than just a reproductive health issue. It affects all body systems and can be complex and confusing to manage. Dr. Merritt navigated this herself, and it’s why Natural Harmony exists and serves the Endo community. Managing the symptoms of Endo often requires building a team of providers who can treat symptoms using knowledge and methods from both Western and Eastern medicine. We are honored to be part of so many of those teams!

Considering fertility acupuncture in San Diego and want to understand what the process is really like?!

🐣Fertility acupuncture is a personalized integrative care option that supports reproductive health by improving blood flow, regulating stress and hormones, and complementing fertility treatments like IVF or natural conception.

🧐Expect a thorough consultation first, gentle sessions tailored to your cycle, and a care plan that evolves with your journey.

📚Research suggests acupuncture may support fertility by:
Improving pelvic blood flow, modulating stress hormones, supporting ovulation and luteal phase function and/or
Improving IVF outcomes when used alongside conventional care.

🔎That said, acupuncture is not a guarantee of pregnancy. A reputable fertility acupuncture provider will be transparent about this and focus on optimizing conditions for conception rather than promising outcomes!

🔥Wondering why we are always harping on you to stay warm…especially in these colder months?

🍲 In Traditional Chinese Medicine, warmth is more than comfort, it’s a core part of supporting reproductive health.

*Here’s why:

1. A warm womb supports implantation
Cold can stagnate qi and blood. Warmth encourages healthy uterine circulation, which supports implantation and a smooth menstrual cycle.

2. It protects Kidney Yang, your reproductive “fire”
Kidney Yang fuels ovulation, hormone balance, and overall fertility. Staying warm helps preserve this vital energy instead of draining it.

3. Warmth boosts blood flow to the ovaries and uterus
Better circulation means better nourishment for follicle development and a healthy endometrial lining.

4. It helps reduce cramps and clotting
Cold can cause blood to congeal, leading to pain and stagnation. Warmth keeps things moving, and more comfortable.

5. Warm digestion builds healthier blood
Warm foods strengthen the digestive “fire,” helping your body make strong, healthy blood that supports fertility.

✨ Cozy foods, warm socks, belly heat packs, and avoiding cold drinks and excessive amounts of raw foods can make a meaningful difference on your TTC journey.

🎁 Feeling the holiday stress while trying to conceive?

You deserve a season of warmth, not pressure.

Here’s a little holiday-care mantra for your fertility journey:
Enjoy festive meals with gratitude, not guilt. Focus on protein, fiber, balanced meals, hydration, and yes, even dessert now and then, your body deserves nourishment and comfort.

Lean on your people. Say “no” when you need space, ask a trusted friend or your partner to help redirect awkward questions, or give you an escape when family dynamics feel intense.

If you’re traveling this season, pack your TTC essentials: OPKs, meds, giveaways for travel mishaps, and self-care tools like herbal tea or a calming playlist. A little planning can ease stress and help you stay connected and centered.

Most of all: be gentle with yourself. Keep routines, find space to breathe, and honor your emotions. Your journey doesn’t need perfection - just intention, love, and hope. 💫

With you always,
The NHRH Crew
