🏈 IT’S FOOTBALL SEASON! 🏈🧡🖤

With the Oklahoma State Cowboys kicking off their season tomorrow against Tulsa, we got into the Cowboy spirit a little early with our very own tailgate lunch party!

Our team enjoyed chips and salsa, insomnia cookies, co****le, football, and plenty of laughs as we celebrated the start of another football season. There’s nothing quite like a little friendly competition and Cowboy spirit to bring everyone together!

Here’s to a great season ahead! Go Pokes! 🤠🧡🖤

Today's resident spotlight is Dr. Lauren Pendarvis, PGY-1!
Hometown: Weatherford, Oklahoma
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Science, Southwestern Oklahoma State University
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Family: Dr. Pendarvis is recently married to her husband, Trevor Pendarvis. Together they share their home with two pups and a kitten: Bingley, a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy; Fitz, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi; and Boo, a half-Manx, half-Maine C**n kitten.
Bonus points if you can guess the theme behind their names!
Why Medicine? "I grew up in a rural community that was fortunate enough to have access to a small regional hospital and amazing physicians. I witnessed firsthand the impact they had through their clinics, hospital work, and free health clinics. I hope to follow in their footsteps by providing healthcare to rural Oklahomans and continuing to serve those who may not otherwise have access to care."
Local Favorite: Blue Spruce! While Dr. Pendarvis isn't a coffee drinker, she says she could happily make every meal from their delicious gelato.

Favorite Season: Fall
Advice for Incoming Residents: "Make time on your days off to do activities or hobbies you enjoy, whether that's by yourself or with friends and family. Even if you just want to relax, it's important to step away from the medical setting and remind yourself that there's more to life than sleep and work."

We are so grateful to have Dr. Pendarvis on our team! We look forward to the impact she will make in our community.

Last Monday, our residents at OSU-CHS took part in a Simulation Day designed to strengthen clinical skills, teamwork, communication, and confidence in a hands-on learning environment.

We’re proud to support opportunities like this that allow our residents to learn, collaborate, and grow as future physicians. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success!

Resident Spotlight: Dr. Aslam

Dr. Aslam is originally from Sialkot and earned a medical degree from Sialkot Medical College.

Inspired by a desire to give back to the community and make a difference in the lives of others, Dr. Aslam chose a career in medicine centered on service and patient care.

A few fun facts about Dr. Aslam:
• His favorite local Stillwater restaurant is The Hatch
• He prefers dogs over cats
• His favorite season is winter
• He is looking forward to marrying his beautiful fiancé, who is a dentist, this December!

Advice for incoming residents:
"Just go with the flow. You will learn one way or the other."

Our program recently had the opportunity to send our coordinator, Meg Eveland, to the Thala-Us-Synapse Conference hosted by Thalamus in Washington, D.C.
The conference brought together residency coordinators from across the country to collaborate, exchange ideas, and discuss innovative approaches to strengthening residency programs. Through networking, educational sessions, and peer discussions, valuable insights were gained on enhancing program operations and supporting resident success.
We are excited that she is bringing these new ideas and best practices back to our program as we continue our commitment to excellence in graduate medical education.

🌟 Resident Spotlight: Dr. Maximillian Ly, PGY-2

Meet Dr. Maximillian Ly! Originally from Dallas, Texas, Maximillian earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a minor in Biology from the University of North Texas before attending the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
As the oldest of three brothers, Dr. Ly was drawn to medicine because it's both fun and provides an opportunity to give back to the community.
