High-volume long-distance runner. Solid compound lifts. Still had his knee give out mid-run.

Big mileage means thousands of single-leg impacts. Bilateral compounds build strength but often hide deficits in glute medius strength, hip control, and knee stabilizers. Under fatigue, the knee can collapse or buckle. Our assessment was consistent with this idea. We’ve just scratched the surface and are excited to be a part of Trey’s sub 3-hour marathon journey 🙏

Proper stacking isn’t about perfect posture 24/7. It’s about building awareness and control so your body can handle real life without breaking down.

Head position, hip ROM, knee tracking, ankle dorsiflexion, big toe extension. Some examples we assess during the initial evaluation. Small corrections at the foundation move the needle for longevity.

Even as a practitioner, it’s tough to assess your own movement. This doctor of osteopathic medicine thought his knee pain meant his running days were over, but we spotted inefficient squat and running mechanics. It took time and active work on his part, but we gradually improved his movement patterns, his knee pain diminished, and now he’s training for an ultra marathon at fifty.

Today, Hyena Rehab LA proudly opens its brand new dedicated location. A fresh chapter reflected by the intersection of art and healing, embodying truth-seeking care that goes far beyond temporary symptom relief.

Our Doctors of Physical Therapy conduct thorough assessments across three planes of movement (sagittal, frontal, and transverse). We restore mechanics, rebuild strength and mobility, and improve proprioceptive awareness through individualized programming. We help athletes, artists, and active individuals breathe life into their respective activities. This new facility expands our capacity for focused, one-on-one care without changing our core methodology. Thank you to our patients, staff, and everyone who made this dream a reality. We are beyond excited to share this space with each of you.

Whether you’re 50, 60, or beyond, it’s not necessarily too late to rediscover the court, the course, or that pure joy of play. We’ll help you move with greater ease, build real strength, and fall in love with pickleball, tennis, or golf all over again.

This patient was getting nerve-like symptoms shooting down his left leg during runs. On basic heel walking, we spotted a clear right pelvic shift during left stance phase — a classic sign of underlying control issues showing up under load.
Running (higher-level activity) was just flaring what was already there.

We tested a short-lever Copenhagen with left foot elevated… and he immediately said he couldn’t feel his left groin at all. So we backed off and replaced it with left sidelying hip adduction. That simple change cleaned up his gait noticeably.

Moral of the story: Optimize your baseline to enhance your performance. Address the foundation first. The big movements and higher-intensity training will feel smoother (and safer) afterward.

One-sided low back or buttock pain triggered by squatting often indicates mechanical stress or dysfunction in the pelvic–spinal junction. Squatting generates substantial compressive and shear forces that can expose movement asymmetries or regional instability.

This unilateral presentation commonly reflects asymmetric force transmission arising from muscular or movement pattern imbalances. A thorough clinical evaluation by a qualified professional (physical therapist or physician) is essential to identify the exact mechanism and distinguish it from other sources.

Patient felt deep joint pain + outer soft tissue discomfort. Hard to tell them apart because they’re often connected.
Poor hip muscle function and pelvic position might overload the joint. Clicking/popping? Sometimes harmless (like cracking knuckles), sometimes not.
