We meet in the Hazelden Betty Ford Center at 11720 El Camino Real, Suite 200.

There is ample underground parking. Enter the parking lot on the south side of the building, park at the north end of the parking structure, then take the elevator to the second floor.

Check in at the reception. No food allowed, drinks must be covered.

SMART San Diego will hold an in-person workshop on Saturday, September 12th from 10:00-1:00 in La Jolla. The workshop will include education and skill-building on a variety of topics. Lunch will be provided. This training event is open to facilitators, volunteers, and anyone in the community interested in becoming more involved.  RSVP required by Tuesday, September 8th for lunch.

Grief can have a profound impact on our emotional well-being and may influence the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that affect our recovery. This discussion group is intended for individuals whose recovery is being impacted by grief.

This is not a grief support group or grief counseling group. Rather, it is a SMART Recovery discussion meeting where participants explore how grief intersects with their recovery journey. Conversations focus on recovery-related topics such as coping with urges, managing difficult emotions, challenging unhelpful thinking, building healthy habits, strengthening motivation, and applying SMART Recovery tools while navigating loss.

Grief may arise from the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a major life transition, or another significant loss. Whatever the source, participants are invited to discuss how grief is affecting their recovery and to connect with others who share the common goal of building healthier, more balanced lives.

Those seeking support focused primarily on the grieving process itself are encouraged to also consider dedicated grief support groups or grief counseling as a valuable complement to this meeting.

As with all SMART Recovery meetings, participants are encouraged to share from their own experiences, avoid giving direct advice, and take what is helpful while respecting the diverse experiences and recovery paths of others.
