๐Ÿ’‰ Readiness starts with Team NMCSD.

Today, wrapped up the primary push of its annual staff influenza vaccination campaign, a key milestone for force health protection and operational readiness.

This effort supports the DHAโ€™s Fiscal Year 2027 Campaign Order (CAMPO). Vaccinated staff keep our deployable Sailors ready and our clinics running, so NMCSD can continue delivering on Line of Effort 1: Deliver Warfighter Medical Readiness for the operational forces and families who depend on us.

โ€œMaintaining high immunization rates preserves our operational capacity and ensures Team NMCSD remains fully prepared to support the joint force.โ€ โ€“ CAPT Jerry J. Bailey, Director, NMCSD

Thanks to our immunization and logistics teams, led by LCDR Catherine Bobea, USPHS, immunization program officer, and Tracy L. Lopez, immunization program manager, for a fast rollout with minimal disruption to clinical operations. Their work builds a barrier that protects our most vulnerable patients from healthcare-associated transmission.

The campaign push is over, but the mission continues. Flu vaccines remain available for staff, incoming personnel and patients throughout the winter season.

Naval Medical Center San Diego recently marked a critical milestone, celebrating the successful onboarding of over 444 civilian professionals over the past two years and bringing our total civilian workforce to more than 2,000 teammates!

This milestone represents a synchronized effort across our onboarding and talent-acquisition teamsโ€”including CHRA, HRD, Credentialing, Medical Administration Officers, Drug Testing, Personnel Security, and Occupational Health.

By building workforce depth, NMCSD directly supports the Defense Health Agency Campaign Order (CAMPO) and advances CORE 15 clinical operational capabilities. Our civilian healthcare experts and dedicated medical support staff provide institutional continuity and patient-centered excellence at home, affording our active-duty personnel the availability and confidence to deploy across the globe.

This prestigious award from the Association of Armed Forces and Federal Optometric Services (AFOS) recognizes Cmdr. Linnell's entire career of sustained contributions to military medicine.

Her frontline leadership directly advances the priorities set forth in the Defense Health Agencyโ€™s Fiscal Year 2027 Campaign Order. Under the CAMPO โ€“ which operationalizes the DHA's mandate as a requirements-driven Combat Support Agency โ€“ the enterprise is laser-focused on Line of Effort 1: Deliver Warfighter Medical Readiness, eliminating lost duty days, and ensuring service members are fully deployable.

Today, celebrated our Navyโ€™s legacy with a traditional cake-cutting, trivia, and a special meal in the galley.

But letโ€™s be absolutely clear: this birthday is about more than tradition. This is about our identity, our readiness, and our warfighting edge. Our focus remains on the core tenets of the 251st Navy Birthday: Unwavering Vigilance and Unmatched Lethality.

Here at our mission is clear: we ensure our Navy and Marine Corps warfighters are medically ready to deploy tonight and win the high-end fight. When we train our medical force, when we maintain clinical excellence, and when we restore our wounded back to the fleet, we are directly generating the unmatched lethality our nation depends on.

Network Outage: Outpatient Services Affected

We are currently experiencing a network outage affecting some outpatient services. Downtime procedures are in effect.

Services affected:
Outpatient Laboratory & Phlebotomy (Blood Draw)
Outpatient Pharmacy

What patients should expect:
Outpatient services are operating under downtime procedures, which will significantly increase wait times.
Emergency, urgent care, and inpatient services remain operational and prioritized.

What patients should do:
Please avoid or postpone visiting the outpatient lab, phlebotomy, or pharmacy for non-urgent or routine needs until network connectivity is restored. This includes routine annual lab work and non-urgent medication refills.
Patients who need urgent or STAT testing or medications will continue to be served, but should expect delays.

We apologize for the impact this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding. We will provide updates as soon as network connectivity is restored.

officially concluded fiscal year 2026 by executing 99.99% of its $664.4 million operating budget at midnight Sept. 30, directly translating disciplined fiscal stewardship into operational lethality and frontline warfighter readiness!

Even after navigating continuing resolutions and fiscal headwinds, Team Balboa captured an additional $8 million in sweep funding during the final two months of the fiscal year. Thanks to the synchronized coordination between our Directorate for Resource Management (DRM) and Directorate for Administration Medical Logistics (DFA MEDLOG) department, those resources were immediately funneled into modernizing clinical equipment and securing critical hospital acquisitions before the statutory deadlineโ€”with zero lost purchasing power.

With Defense Health Network Pacific Rim Director Rear Adm. Reginald S. Ewing III selected to lead Line of Effort 1: Deliver Warfighter Medical Readiness, under FY27 's recently released Campaign Order, NMCSD is situated at the epicenter of the Defense Health Agencyโ€™s primary operational focus.

As NMCSD Director Capt. Jerry J. Bailey shared:

"Our financial and logistics teams proved in fiscal year 2026 that they do not admire problems โ€” they solve them, eliminate barriers, and execute. We will not wait to be told what right looks like; Team Balboa will define it for the military health enterprise. We took care of business in FY26, and now we are ready to keep moving out and drawing fire together in FY27."

What an honor for to host Rear Adm. Richard Schobitz, Director of Headquarters for the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps, for an official tour today!

The visit provided a comprehensive look at how our joint-service medical teams collaborate to support healthcare delivery, operational readiness, and the overall NMCSD mission. Highlights of the tour included:

BioSkills Department: Observing high-fidelity patient simulation platforms that keep our medical personnel training at the highest levels.

Virtual Medical Operations Center (VMOC): Demonstrating our robust tele-health capabilities that connect world-class specialists to remote operational sites globally.

Sailors and staff at came together this morning to honor and remember the lives lost on 9/11.

During a Patriot Day ceremony, we honored the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who answered the call on that fateful day. We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost and reflect on the lasting impact of the terrorist attacks.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor the victims by standing together in service, sacrifice, and unity.

Sailors assigned to Naval Medical Center San Diego strengthened their emergency response capabilities today during hazardous material decontamination training.

The hands-on training challenged Sailors to practice critical decontamination procedures, properly utilize protective equipment, and work together as a team.

Training like this is about building confidence, sharpening skills, and ensuring our Sailors are prepared to respond when every second counts.
