☀️ An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for our region! CPCMG urges everyone to take extra precautions with hydration and outdoor play as kids sweat less and absorb heat faster than adults, putting them at higher risk for heat-related illness.

Here’s a quick prep checklist for staying cool:

💧 Hydrate early and often - don't wait until they ask for water. Keep water bottles full.

👕 Dress in light, breathable layers - loose-fitting, light-colored clothing helps reflect heat and allows airflow.

🏡 Shift outdoor play - stick to indoor, air-conditioned fun or stay in the shade
during peak hours (10am to 4pm).

🚗 Always check the back seat - vehicle interiors reach dangerous temperatures in minutes, even with windows cracked. Never leave a child unattended in a car, not even for a minute.

Stay safe and stay cool! 💙

🌊 Labor Day Weekend Weather Advisory for Families
Heading to the coast this holiday weekend? Here is what Southern California parents need to know to keep kids safe while enjoying the long weekend. While Hurricane Marie is staying out at sea, it is bringing dangerous surf conditions and a chance of showers to SoCal coastlines from Saturday through Tuesday.

⚠️ What to Watch For This Weekend
• High Surf & Rip Currents: The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory. South-facing beaches (like Windansea in La Jolla) will see large breaking waves and extremely strong rip currents.
• Coastal Flooding: High tides combined with high surf may cause minor flooding and erosion in parking lots and boardwalk areas during peak high-tide hours.
• Scattered Showers: Expect plenty of cloud cover, with a slight chance of rain on Saturday and Monday, and better chances for scattered showers on Sunday.

💡 Safety Tips for Parents
• Prioritize Beach Safety: Because rip currents will be exceptionally strong, keep a very close eye on children near the water. Even strong swimmers can be caught off guard by longshore currents.
• Plan Around High Tides: Check local high tide times before heading out to avoid coastal flooding zones with strollers or young children.
• Stay Flexible: Keep a backup indoor activity in mind just in case Sunday's scattered showers change your outdoor holiday plans!

Have a safe, fun, and relaxing Labor Day weekend from all of us at CPCMG! 💙
