Happy EARTH MONTH šš±ā»ļø!
I strive to celebrate the earth everyday and wanted to share a few simple tips for how you can help contribute and respect the planet šā¬ļø!
ā»ļøReduce, reuse, repurpose, recycle. This is a big one! The best way to be eco-friendly is to use what you have, repurpose items, buy second-hand whenever possible, and recycle what you canāt use. Glass can be 100% recycled, so buying items in glass vs. plastic is a better option. You definitely donāt need to go and buy all new things to become eco-friendly, so start with what youāve got!
ā»ļøShop local! Not only are you supporting small businesses, your carbon footprint will be smaller because the amount of travel needed is far less! This is especially true for local produce! Less travel=less energy needed AND more nutrients cause youāre getting it freshly picked!
ā»ļøSwitch to non-toxic, biodegradable cleaning and personal care products! Itās healthier for you and the environment. I even buy my cleaning ingredients in bulk and make my own all-purpose spray.
ā»ļøBe mindful when spending time in nature and ALWAYS leave it better than how you found it. AKA clean up after yourself and pick up trash if you see some! Iāve been seeing WAY more trash around in the past year. There are so many beautiful destinations to visit, please respect nature and clean up after yourself, so that future generations can enjoy it too! The outdoors are home to so many animals and plants and youāre just a visitor š.
ā»ļøBuy in bulk to reduce packaging! We all buy things online these days, so try your best to buy the largest containers or find a local refill shop to further reduce excess packaging! I got non-toxic dishwashing powder in bulk almost a year and a half ago at a local refill shop and Iām only just about to use the last of it!
ā»ļøSupport sustainable businesses. A great starting point is to support certified businesses, as they have already made the pledge to have sustainable practices.
ā»ļøPlant trees! They create oxygen and suck carbon out of the atmosphere. Thereās no such thing as too many trees āŗļø.
