AAP’s schedule is based on when children’s immune systems respond best to immunizations, and when they are most vulnerable to preventable diseases.

We don't change recommendations because of political considerations, speculations, or misinformation. Right now, the evidence continues to show that these vaccines are safe, effective, and important for protecting children.

Diarrhea is a hot topic right now. Parents, it’s important to know a few main points:
-viruses remain the most common cause of diarrhea in kids
-antibiotics are not routinely recommended for GI illnesses even if the cause is bacterial
-fluids, rest, avoid sugary beverages and a return to a healthy diet are the best recommendations
-wash your hands, all surfaces, and fruits and vegetables well to avoid spread
