the BIGGEST question I get as a lactation consultant is “how do I know my baby is getting anything?” we look for swallows, baby’s behavior, pees poops and weight. but weighted feeds are the only way to see exactly how much your baby eats while breastfeeding in mLs or ounces! it’s best to have a lactation consultant perform them for you at an insurance covered visit and assess latch technique. it gives new moms a lot of peace of mind about their milk supply. 🤱🤍

Paced bottle feeding is key to protect breastfeeding and not cause a flow preference! If you baby gets the bottle fast, they can get impatient while breastfeeding. And it’s okay for them to get a little air, that is a common old misconception that the n!pple must be full when bottlefeeding! 🤱🤍
