We offer classes, workshops and resources to help you enjoy and protect your birthing experience. You only birth this baby once and you should be informed of all of your choices and how they will affect yourself and your baby. We support all kinds of birth - natural, medicated, Caesarean, VBAC(vaginal birth after caesarean), home, hospital or birth center. Every person must make the choice for the

nselves as to what kind of birth they desire and we, no matter what our views, should support each other with those choices. We are here to answer your questions and help you in any way that we can. Fears associated with childbirth can be removed once you feel informed about what you want and how to achieve it. In today’s show, Brenda and Brenden are here to tell their 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆! Hypnobirthing is how we found each other but these two decided to have a baby before they got into class.⁣

These parents had so many layers to becoming parents and also had 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 both their bodies and souls for their son to join them. Lot of juicy bits to their story.⁣

As educators, we do a pre-series call with parents as soon as they sign up. Sometimes those calls are REALLY early in the pregnancy which are my favorite ones! It allows me to 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 to help them have a better pregnancy and also way more time to understand and deal with the fears that accompany birth and postpartum.⁣

Luckily, we had started our birth conversations ahead of when their little guy 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝟯𝟮 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀! They had a doula in place, the best provider and we had been in touch over books, podcasts and the meditations to work on mindset. This was a fun story to hear and record - I hope you pick up all the lessons and tips.

Not all of us can go through a three day labor, with two, long rounds of unmedicated pitocin, and endless, brash staff, and say that their birth was not traumatic. 𝗝𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱, 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲.⁣

There are so many good parts to her story they cannot be summed up in these clips. Education was key but 𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 is what made the difference. What you put into your birth experience ahead of time helps soften those unexpected moments. ⁣

Will things always go flawlessly? Do they go that way in life everyday? Your skillset to make choices moment by moment and 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘂𝗽 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 can be done with some intentional planning.⁣

Solid birth education is what helps you understand the choices involved in your care. 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆. You have the right to say yes, or no and also the right to change your mind at any time.⁣

Any birth class that you choose should have a good amount of self advocacy in the curriculum. A fair and honest picture of how our health care system works is also a must for me. 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 how in depth the curriculum goes with these two topics. We cannot prepare you for all scenarios but we can prepare you with a broad scope of information so that you and your partner can get on the same page and understand what you may encounter from staff.⁣

While staff may not have the intention of running right over your “no,” 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗮 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗲𝗱 than what one person may be communicating they are needing or wanting. ⁣

Only you have the ability to build your confidence and understand the freedom that comes from asking more questions, take in the pros and cons, and make a decision that is right for you and your family. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘆, protect your peace.⁣

I am so excited to have Joleen in today’s episode to share her birth story! Joleen took Hypnobirthing practice seriously and did the mental preparation for anything that could happen with her birth. Many times parents feel like the physical prep is the most important - it is NOT! 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱. If your mind is not ready for the twists and turns of birth, your body won’t be either.⁣

I was so impressed by her level of advocacy and owning her choices around her birth. She and her partner both! When we think of Hollywood births - we think of water breaking first. Well - that’s not as common as you think but it happened to be the case with Joleen. That set off not a cascade of interventions, but a 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵. ⁣

Joleen had done a lot of planning and research for her birth. She knew the risk numbers and science behind the choices she was making. Once admitted, 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 about refusing antibiotics during pregnancy, and a midwife using fear tactics with a graphic story while crying in front of her. ⁣

𝗔 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵. This story is a reminder that even though you are a care provider doing your best, the tactics and feeling

I love when partners take hold of education and allow it to shift them into confident humans in the birth room! It is the coolest transformation to watch from week one of class into week five of Hypnobirthing. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘀.⁣

Learning that you are the one in charge of the care your family is receiving is a switch in the power dynamic. Knowing that you have the power to have conversations that you now understand, and 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳- 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺. Start you education early. Call your local birth educators and find out where to start. Is it switching hospitals? Hiring a doula? Reading a foundational book? ⁣

Do it together and do it early.⁣

After doing birth work all these years, I am amazed at 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. It happens more than I document but does not go unnoticed.⁣

I still think that adults know everything. They have it all figured out. But then I remember that I AM AN ADULT - I am the one that I seek to have it all figured out. Well, we adult don’t. I don’t, and I also still see myself or feel young inside this older body. Does that ever go away?⁣

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴. Do I accept what is in front of me moment by moment and just make choices from reality? Or do I get pissy and postpone the choices I can make to move forward. I see where I cause more suffering in my life and I also know how to get past it. I am ever grateful for this job that allows me to constantly see where I need to improve.⁣

𝟭𝟬𝟳: 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮’𝘀 𝗜𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀⁣

In today’s episode I welcome Sandra! She and her husband shared a fertility journey with a lot of unique parts to it. I had never heard of two vasectomy reversals until now! But once they were on the road to parenthood, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗜𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟯𝟲𝟰 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁! ⁣

Living in rural Julian, Sandra’s biggest fear was being far from services and having a baby at home.⁣

I met Sandra via a phone call really early in her first pregnancy. As we talked we both came to the conclusion that her current OB was not going to support the kind of birth she imagined for her family. She 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 and she and her husband joined my class a few months later.⁣

Her first birth began the night before Thanksgiving and she had an uncomplicated hospital delivery with a midwife. She made it to the hospital with plenty of time! While settled at home with her new baby - she soon found out that she was pregnant again! ⁣

Her next son was also coming at Thanksgiving and it was a deja vu birth with a twist! ⁣

𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 expectations, postpartum community support, and how placenta capsules boosted her energy. She gives great advice to new moms about trusting their instincts and 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 “𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀” 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 and will be teaching in my classes from here on out!⁣

One of the reasons 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗚𝗼𝗱𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 is because of its masterful way of walking you through the transformation that happens to you during birth and postpartum. Since we no longer get that information passed down to us by our village/tribe elders - this book 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗡𝗔.⁣

Erica explains in such realistic detail - her experience of this shedding, surrendering and letting go of what has not been serving us. Our past expectations of being perfect, whole and productive - change during birth. 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻, 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲. ⁣

I would love us all to learn these lessons early but that’s not how it’s set up. Hopefully, this explanation will allow us to reflect on our own strived for ideals and loosen the reins a bit before our births.⁣

There is something to be said about a dad getting as much birth preparation education as his partner.⁣

𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 so birth and postpartum was no different. I remember him helping Erica jot notes and ideas down in Hypnobirthing and having side conversations during breaks about how they would implement things as a couple.⁣

One portion of our Hypnobirthing class series is an online class called Newborn Procedures. Section 5 is all about how partners can run the show. I say "can" because 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. Especially after your baby is out - the birth and postpartum rooms move fast with a lot of people doing their specific jobs. But Brian took these online notes to another level for a first time dad - 𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸!⁣
