Yesterday, our Silvergate Rancho Bernardo residents enjoyed a special outing to Gillespie Field in El Cajon, where we were warmly welcomed back to Katie Overson’s hangar.

The day could not have been more beautiful and perfect for spending time together while admiring an incredible collection of gorgeous vintage airplanes. Our residents enjoyed learning about the planes, hearing their stories, and taking in the history and craftsmanship behind these remarkable aircrafts.

The afternoon was made even more memorable with a delicious meal of fried and grilled chicken, coleslaw, scallion potatoes, homemade bread rolls, baked beans, and fresh watermelon. To top it all off, everyone enjoyed a wonderful dessert spread featuring ice cream sundaes, fudge brownies, lemon bars, and homemade iced sugar cookies.

A heartfelt thank you to Katie, Christine, and Christopher for so graciously inviting us to your hangars once again. Our residents had such a wonderful time, and we are so grateful for your kindness, hospitality, and the opportunity to share such a meaningful and enjoyable experience together. We hope to visit again in the future!

Yesterday, Silvergate Rancho Bernardo residents gathered for a meaningful and heartfelt A Pure Heart Veteran’s Club Legacy Biography Presentation and Pinning Ceremony with Johnathon Burgi.

We were honored to recognize four very special honorees: our company founder, Mr. David Petree, Paul Comeau, Harvey Simkovsky, and Bob Howard. Each honoree was presented with a personalized biography highlighting their time in service, along with meaningful details from their lives and legacy. They also received a special hat featuring the logo of their military branch, a small token of appreciation for the tremendous commitment they have shown throughout their lives.

It was a beautiful opportunity to reflect on their stories, honor their service, and celebrate the lasting impact they have made—not only for our country, but also for our greater community.

To Paul, Harvey, Bob, and Mr. Petree: thank you for your courage, dedication, and service. We are truly grateful for all you have given and continue to represent.

Yesterday, residents from Silvergate Rancho Bernardo enjoyed a wonderful cultural outing to the Oceanside Museum of Art! From vibrant contemporary exhibits to thought-provoking artistic expressions, our residents had the opportunity to immerse themselves in creativity, conversation, and inspiration.

The beautiful galleries sparked meaningful discussions and admiration for the incredible talent showcased throughout the museum. Outings like these are such a special way for our residents to continue exploring new experiences, connect with one another, and appreciate the arts in our surrounding community.

This Memorial Day, we came together as a community at Silvergate Rancho Bernardo to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Residents gathered for a wonderful Memorial Day BBQ luncheon where everyone enjoyed a complimentary meal, lively entertainment, refreshing cocktails, and the warmth of fellowship and gratitude.

Throughout the day, we reflected on the true meaning of Memorial Day with four heartfelt memorial posterboard displays showcased in our lobby, along with a beautifully arranged Missing Man Table in our courtyard. Each tribute served as a powerful reminder of the courage, service, and sacrifice of our fallen heroes who gave so much for the freedoms we cherish today.

We are deeply grateful to all who have served and especially remember those who are no longer with us. May their bravery and legacy never be forgotten.

Our Memory Suites ladies were treated to a beautiful Mother’s Day Tea surrounded by warmth, laughter, and cherished family moments. Guests enjoyed an elegant assortment of delicate finger sandwiches, delicious petite fours, and refreshing tea while spending quality time together in a lovely atmosphere filled with love and appreciation.

It was a heartfelt and memorable experience for our wonderful ladies and their families, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make the celebration so special.

Yesterday was a true smorgasbord of talent, imagination, and creativity at our Resident Art Exhibit & Sale, featuring art by Larry Clark! Residents gathered together in the lobby to enjoy delicious refreshments, appetizers, and an inspiring showcase of artwork featuring captivating abstract creations alongside a few beautiful non-abstract pieces.

Our residents continue to amaze us with their willingness to explore new and exciting forms of artistic expression. Whether working with traditional techniques or experimenting with something completely unique, each piece reflected the individuality, passion, and creativity of its artist.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event such a wonderful celebration of art, community, and self-expression. We are so proud of the incredible creativity our residents bring to Silvergate Rancho Bernardo every day!

We had a fabulous Cinco de Mayo celebration yesterday, filled with color, flavor, and a festive spirit! Our community came alive with vibrant decorations, refreshing margaritas and aguas frescas, and a delicious spread of authentic Mexican cuisine for all to enjoy.

The highlight of the day was the incredible Mariachi ensemble, who strolled through the dining room, courtyard and Dave's Bar, serenading our residents with lively music and heartfelt performances. Their presence brought such joy and energy, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for everyone in attendance.

It was a spectacular event from start to finish, and we are so grateful to all who joined us in celebrating together.

This past Wednesday, Silvergate Rancho Bernardo was transformed into a vibrant celebration of culture, rhythm, and connection during our unforgettable "Out of Africa" immersive experience event.

Residents, along with future residents, gathered for an afternoon that truly brought the spirit of Africa to life. We were honored to host Daunté Nabi Fyall, S.D. State Professor of African Culture & Dance, alongside renowned Historian and Griot Baba Fode Sissoko and the talented drummers of the Malinké Ethnic Group. Together, they guided us through the rich storytelling of African dance and music; where every movement and every beat of the drum becomes part of a living dialogue.

Our community was captivated as they learned how rhythm and motion intertwine to communicate history, emotion, and tradition in a way that transcends words. It was not only a performance, but a deeply meaningful cultural exchange that left a lasting impression on all who attended.

We'd like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible staff members for bringing this vision to life, and to everyone who joined us and made the day so special. Moments like these continue to enrich our community and remind us of the beauty found in shared experiences.

This past Wednesday, our residents went on an adventure to the March Field Air Museum in Riverside where they enjoyed exploring all of the many exhibits the museum had to offer! From busts of courageous pilots, paintings of decorating war heroes to full-fledged aircrafts, the museum was an incredibly educational and awe-inspiring experience. Following the museum, the residents stopped in at the Smoke & Fire Social Eatery where they were treated to massive helpings of delicious BBQ style food!

This past Tuesday, we proudly celebrated the promotions of three incredible women on our Management Team!

Jessica Swaaley, formerly our Business Office Manager/HR, has stepped into her new role as Executive Director.

Tatijana Garilovic, previously our Administrative Assistant, is now our Business Office Manager/HR.

Venessa Walker, once our Activity Assistant, has been promoted to Administrative Assistant.

We hosted a wonderful celebration in their honor and invited our residents to join in the excitement; what a joy it was to share this special moment together!
