“I WENT FOR ACUPUNCTURE ONCE, AND IT DIDN’T HELP.”
When I hear this, I have to smile a little. 😊
It’s about the same as saying:
“I took one antibiotic pill and didn’t see any results.”
Eastern medicine is not magic.
If you have been experiencing back pain for several months, have inflamed tissues, limited mobility, or an irritated sciatic nerve, it is not realistic to promise that one treatment will completely resolve the problem.
I never promise my patients a miraculous recovery after one session.
If the inflammatory process is significant and you have been living with pain for months, your body will also need time to recover.
At the same time, I do see fast and noticeable results in many patients—especially when they follow my recommendations, stay consistent with their treatments, and follow their home-care recommendations.
And there is one very important point: treatment is not just about needles.
Depending on the patient’s condition, I may use a comprehensive approach that can include acupuncture, myofascial techniques, cupping therapy, heat therapy, massage techniques, and traditional Chinese herbal formulas.
But treatment must be individualized. I do not recommend that patients prescribe herbs for themselves or copy a treatment they found on the internet. Something that helps one person may be completely inappropriate for another.
That is why, when a new patient comes to me with pain, I never promise a result in advance.
First, I want to understand:
• how long the problem has existed;
• how it started;
• what may have triggered it;
• how the person eats;
• their level of stress;
• their physical activity and working conditions;
• how they sleep and recover;
• what treatments they have already tried.
Only after that do we discuss a realistic treatment plan.
That is why my initial appointment is about 90 minutes. It is not a 10–15 minute conversation followed by a quick procedure. We take the time to discuss your condition in detail, I perform a thorough assessment, and we begin the first treatment session.
Why do I offer treatment packages?
Not because I simply want to sell more treatments.
For the patient, a package means a lower cost per visit and the opportunity to complete an appropriate course of treatment without paying more.
For me, it helps patients stay consistent with their treatment, because consistency and a systematic approach can make a significant difference.
I always tell my patients:
Don’t expect a miracle after one treatment.
Give your body time, and give the treatment a chance to work.
A good result is not a promise to “cure you in one session.”
It is based on proper assessment, an individualized plan, consistency, and working together as doctor and patient.
