The Center for Men's Excellence Founded by Dr. Dan Singley, CME psychologists provide evidence-based interventions for men, couples, children and families.

CME therapists work with clients who seek to improve their quality of life, with a particular focus on men, couples, families and children aged 8 and up. Clients take part in scientifically-supported psychotherapy treatments to more effectively manage a variety of issues including anxiety, stress, and depression. By learning to apply well-researched psychological techniques, clients are able to experience considerably higher quality of life and long-lasting relief from their concerns. The Center for Men's Excellence is also home to dad-focused parenting classes called Basic Training for New Dads. In addition to these dads classes, Dr. Singley also provides counseling for new dads and couples interested in keeping their newly-expanding family as strong as it can be even in the midst of adjusting to life with a new baby.

What does it actually mean to be a good man?

If you ask 10 different people, you’ll get 10 different answers. That’s why we asked our staff, clients, and friends to weigh in with the music that speaks to them.

~ These songs reflect what our staff, clients, and friends think reflect what it is to be a good man—in a variety of ways. ~

From fatherhood and vulnerability to resilience, growth, and inner strength, this 40-track Spotify playlist captures the full, complex spectrum of masculinity.

🎶 Take a listen, hit shuffle, and tell us in the comments: What song would you add to the list?

What if Darth Vader had paid parental leave? 🌌

It turns out pop culture’s most famous patriarch is a cautionary tale of what happens when a father lacks basic workplace flexibility and early bonding opportunities.

With Comic-Con right around the corner, our latest blog post uses the Star Wars universe to unpack three critical policy changes needed for modern fathers and families:

1️⃣ Expanded Paid Parental Leave with job protections—so dads can be more like Din Djarin, less like a Sith Lord.

2️⃣ Paternal Mental Health Screenings during pediatric visits (with strict privacy protections!).

3️⃣ Father-Inclusive Family Services that integrate dads into early childhood programs.

Transitioning to a family-systems model of care improves long-term health outcomes for mothers, fathers, and kids alike.

Fathers' mental health is having a moment — and Dr. Dan Singley is helping lead it. He's training and certifying professionals through Postpartum Support International's "Foundations in Paternal Perinatal Mental Health" program, expanding the network of providers equipped to support fathers and families during the perinatal period. The Greater Washington Urban League group was so lively they started a selfie tradition that's now part of every training wrap-up. 📸

More trained providers = Better outcomes.
For dads, partners, and families everywhere!

Look at this room 🙌💙

PSI trainers Daniel Singley, PhD, ABPP, PMH-C of The Center for Men's Excellence and Dr. Sheehan D. Fisher, PhD just completed a 2-day Foundations in Paternal Perinatal Mental Health Training with the Greater Washington Urban League in Washington, DC, right before International Fathers' Mental Health Day.

This training gives providers the tools to recognize, screen for, and treat perinatal mood and anxiety disorders in fathers using evidence-based, culturally responsive approaches. Every professional in a room like this one is a ripple effect, reaching dads and families who need support.

1 in 10 dads experience perinatal depression or anxiety — yet fathers are rarely part of the conversation.

International Father's Mental Health Day exists to change that. It was co-founded by CME's own Dr. Daniel Singley alongside paternal postpartum depression survivor Mark Williams.

Asking for help early makes a real difference. Find resources at ifmhd.org/resources-and-information, or call The Center for Men's Excellence at (858) 609-1549 to connect with a perinatal mental health therapist.

Check out the latest post by Dr. Dan Singley, CME founder:

Everyone's heard of the "manosphere" — and most people picture the worst of it: Alpha/Beta hierarchies, red-pill grievance, women treated as conquests. That corner is real, and it's done damage.

But it's also only half the bell curve.

In my latest piece, I make the case for why "manosphere" should mean all online content about men and masculinity — including the prosocial half nobody's talking about. Communities like r/daddit (731K members, zero tolerance for "hustle bro" posturing) are quietly modeling something better: men showing up, admitting they're "winging it," and being present rather than perfect.

Did you know that regardless of gender or sexual orientation, every person carries both feminine and masculine aspects within their identity? That's not a flaw or a contradiction — it's part of what makes us fully human.

Embracing all of it is where the real strength lives. Happy Pride Month. 🌈

We are deeply honored to have been selected by the Mayor of Imperial Beach to receive a City Council Proclamation in recognition of Men's Health and Mental Health Week.

June is , and recognition like this matters — not just for The Center for Men's Excellence, but for every man who has ever struggled in silence and every community working to change that. We're grateful to be part of this movement.

Strong men. Healthy minds. Stronger communities. 💙
