She was standing right there. They talked about her like she wasn't.

At the pharmacy, the clerk turned to her daughter and asked, "Does she want the easy-open cap?" Her mother stood right there, two feet away, a woman who'd raised four kids and still finishes the crossword faster than anyone in the family. In that moment, none of that mattered. She'd become someone to be talked about, not talked to.

Her daughter has noticed it happening more and more, in waiting rooms, at the bank, even at family dinners.

This week marks International Day of Older Persons (October 1), observed worldwide since 1991. It exists because this happens quietly, everywhere, and most people don't even realize they're doing it.

At SYNERGY HomeCare of Scripps Ranch, we ask our caregivers to do one simple thing: look at the person, not past them.

Looking for care that truly sees and values your loved one? Call us at (858) 707-7599. We’d be honored to care for your family.

Come say hello, we'll be there!

Mark your calendars. On Saturday, September 26, you'll find SYNERGY HomeCare of Scripps Ranch at the SDRC Resource Fair, San Diego Convention Center, from 9 AM to 3:30 PM.

This event brings together individuals with learning differences, their families, and the community partners who support them, a chance to connect, ask questions, and explore what real support can look like at home.

We'll be there to meet you in person, talk about how we build personalized care plans for individuals with learning differences, and simply be a friendly, familiar face if you have questions about care for someone you love.

Bring the whole family, there's free parking for early arrivals, lunch vouchers available, and sessions offered in several languages.

Come find our booth, we'd genuinely love to meet you.

You're not the only one who feels this way.

For a long time, Maria didn't tell anyone that her mother sometimes looked at her like a stranger. It felt too painful to say out loud, and somehow, saying it made it more real. So she carried it quietly, thinking she was the only daughter going through this.

She wasn't. This week marks World Alzheimer's Day - September 21, one day set aside specifically to say that out loud: more than 55 million families around the world are carrying something similar, and none of them have to carry it in silence.

At SYNERGY HomeCare of Scripps Ranch, this is part of what Memory Care means to us, not just caring for the person living with dementia, but making sure the family beside them doesn't feel so alone either.

This World Alzheimer’s Day, we’re honoring the families, caregivers, and loved ones walking through Alzheimer’s together. If your family needs support, we’re here for you. Call us at (858) 707-7599.

Every diagnosis is different. Care should be too.

Mr. Alvarez has Parkinson's. His hands shake worse in the mornings, but he still insists on buttoning his own shirt, even when it takes him ten extra minutes and his daughter is standing right there, watching, unsure whether to help or just let him struggle through it. For him, that shirt isn't really about the buttons. It's one of the last things that still feels like his choice.

That's the part families often don't know how to navigate alone, when helping becomes taking over, and when stepping back is actually the kindest thing to do.

Specialized Care starts with understanding the person. Whether they’re living with Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy, recovering from cancer, or managing another condition, care is tailored to their needs, routines, and everyday life.

At SYNERGY HomeCare of Scripps Ranch, we take the time to understand each person’s routines, preferences, and unique care needs, so families can feel confident their loved one is receiving thoughtful, personalized support at home.

Not sure what kind of support your loved one needs? Give us a call at (858) 707-7599. We’d be happy to listen, answer your questions, and help you explore the right care options for your family.

Home should feel safe again, right away.

Payne had his hip replaced on a Tuesday. By Thursday, he was home, sitting on the edge of his bed at 11 PM, staring at a pill organizer, trying to remember if he'd already taken the blue one. His son had gone home to sleep. The hospital's call button was gone. It was just he, the quiet house, and a body that didn't feel like his own yet.

That first week home is when a lot of families realize how much support they actually need, not dramatic, just constant: someone to help him stand up safely, to notice if the incision looks off, to simply be there so he isn't figuring it out alone at midnight.

That's what Hospital to Home Care is for. A caregiver who picks up right where the hospital left off, so healing doesn't rest on getting everything right by yourself.

At SYNERGY HomeCare of Scripps Ranch, we try to be that steady presence for families like Payne's, in the week that matters most.

If someone you love is coming home after surgery, you don’t have to handle it alone. We’re here to help make the transition home safer, easier, and more comfortable. Call us at (858) 707-7599.

2 AM, and someone needs to be awake for him.

Some nights, her father wakes up disoriented, convinced he needs to get dressed and go "home", even though he's already there. She used to sleep with one ear open, just in case. Some nights she didn't sleep at all.

That's the part of dementia care no one really prepares you for, the nights are often harder than the days.

24/7 Care means someone is there when that happens, not rushing to calm him down, just sitting with him for a moment, talking softly, walking him gently back to bed. No panic. No fear. Just someone steady, at an hour when steady is hard to find.

At SYNERGY HomeCare of Scripps Ranch, this is what we hope to give families like hers, not just care for him, but real sleep for her too.

If nights like these are becoming part of your routine, you don’t have to navigate them alone. Call us at (858) 707-7599.

Connection doesn't always need words.

For families living with Memory Care, connection doesn't always come through conversation, it comes through moments.

A short walk outside. Sorting buttons or playing cards together. Cooking something simple, side by side. A slow drive through a familiar neighborhood. Flipping through an old photo album, no need to remember every name. Reading a favorite section of the news out loud.

None of these need to go perfectly. They're not about the result, they're about the time spent together.

At SYNERGY HomeCare of Scripps Ranch, our caregivers build these small moments into everyday care, because connection is still possible, even when memory isn't what it used to be.

Give your loved one the support, comfort, and care they deserve. Call (858) 707-7599 today.

Not alone, even in the quiet moments.
Mr. Torres waters his tomato plants every morning. He notices the little things, a hummingbird by the porch, a neighbor's new dog, the way the light hits the fence just before eight. And every day, he saves those small moments up, hoping someone will ask him about them.
That's what loneliness quietly takes from people. Not company exactly, just someone to tell things to.
Companion Care gives that back. Not a checklist of tasks, but real time together, a walk around the block, a conversation that isn't rushed, someone who actually wants to hear about the hummingbird.
At SYNERGY HomeCare of Scripps Ranch, our caregivers show up for these moments too, because we've learned that's often what people need most.
If someone you love could use a little more companionship in their days, we're here. Call us at (858) 707-7599.

Independence looks different for everyone. That's the whole point.

Today marks 36 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed (July 26, 1990), a law built on one idea: everyone deserves to live life on their own terms.

At SYNERGY HomeCare of Scripps Ranch, we try to live that out with every family we meet. We choose to see it as a learning difference, not a limitation, because every person deserves to be understood, not defined by a diagnosis. Before we ever start caregiving, we take time to actually listen: what independence means to them, what support they want, and just as importantly, what they'd rather do on their own.

That's how real care should work. Not a fixed routine, but a plan built around the person, whether they're navigating a learning difference, recovering from surgery, or simply need a little help to keep doing life their way.

If your family is looking for care that truly understands, we're here. Call us at (858) 707-7599.
