Sharing from our preservation partners and friends at University Heights Historical Society an All Hands on Deck Alert!

Please mark your calendar for the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, November 18 at 5 pm in the Brucker Education Center Auditorium, 4100 Normal Street.

District staff will recommend a developer for each of 5 sites including the Brucker site, and request Board approval to proceed with negotiating terms with each developer.

We want to be sure that the proposal for the Brucker site includes preservation and adaptive reuse of Annex 1 and 2, and preservation of the two heritage trees--the oak tree in front of Annex 3, and the ficus tree at the corner of Normal Street and Campus Avenue.

It is absolutely critical that the community show up in force wearing red like we did at the last District workshop about the Brucker site in April. Rest assured that the opposition will also attend the meeting and ask for more units, more height, and less parking.

We will email more details after the Board agenda is published on November 14.

This may be the community's last chance to influence the development of this significant site so please show up and be heard.
