Rebuild From Within - Tara Fulkerson I’m a Core Pattern Coach with a Master’s in Education & 16 years as a trainer & bodybuilder. Join me in my Soul Cup program or 1:1 coaching sessions.

I help women identify and rewire deep-rooted survival patterns—so they can stop living on autopilot. Are you the best version of yourself? How about when stressed or overwhelmed? You’re successful on the outside—but under the surface, something’s off. You feel stuck in cycles of people-pleasing, anxiety, or emotional burnout. You might be stuck in an old survival pattern—a subconscious way of thin

king or reacting that you developed in early childhood to feel safe or accepted. These patterns once served a purpose, but now they’re likely keeping you small, stuck, and unfulfilled. And here’s the truth: there’s nothing to be ashamed of! Everyone has a survival pattern. This is how the human nervous system adapts. As a Core Pattern Coach, I specialize in helping you identify these hidden patterns, understand where they came from, and give you real, practical tools to shift them—for good.
• This is not surface-level mindset work.
• This is deep, rewiring, hands-on coaching.
• This is mental and emotional strength training for your life. Take the personality quiz to get started

Therapy can help you understand where it comes from. You can name the pattern, recognize your triggers, and make sense of why you react the way you do.

But when you’re in the moment, your system still responds the way it learned to. That reaction happens quickly, often before you’ve had time to think it through or choose a different response. So even with awareness, the same behavior can show up again, especially under stress or pressure.

This is where Core Patterns come in. They explain why insight alone doesn’t always change your reactions. Your system is trying to keep you safe using responses that once worked, even if they no longer serve you now.

Understanding your pattern isn’t just about knowing it exists. It’s about recognizing how it shows up in real time and why it keeps repeating.

Work doesn’t just show your skills. It shows your patterns.

The way you handle pressure, respond to feedback, deal with uncertainty, or interact with your team often follows something deeper. You might overextend to keep things smooth, stay quiet and push through, take control to get ahead, pull back when it gets overwhelming, or stay in constant motion to keep everything stable.

These aren’t random behaviors. They’re patterns your system uses to feel safe, especially in environments where expectations, pressure, and responsibility are high.

Once you start seeing your pattern at work, things make more sense. Your reactions, your habits, even the way you relate to people around you.

Which pattern are you noticing in your workplace right now?

When you’re carrying a lot on your mind, even small unresolved things can feel bigger than they actually are.

As a mom, you’re not just thinking about one thing. You’re tracking schedules, needs, emotions, and everything in between. So when something feels unclear or unfinished, your system pushes you to act fast just to relieve that pressure.

Research supports this. Studies on cognitive load and mental labor (Daminger, 2019) show that mothers often carry the invisible work of planning and anticipating, which increases mental strain. The Zeigarnik Effect also shows that unfinished or unresolved tasks stay active in the mind, making them feel more urgent and stressful. Together, this can drive the need to act quickly just to feel some relief.

This is how the Aggressive pattern can show up. It creates urgency and action to help you feel back in control, even if nothing has actually gone wrong.

You don’t end up in the same situations because you’re not trying. You end up there because something in you recognizes it as familiar.

Your system is wired to repeat what it already knows. Even when it doesn’t feel good, it feels predictable. And predictable feels safe.

So you respond the same way. You choose the same dynamics. You tolerate the same things a little longer than you should. Not on purpose, but because your pattern is running in the background.

That’s why awareness alone doesn’t always change it. Your body is reacting faster than your thoughts.

If you’ve ever thought, “Why does this keep happening to me?” this is where to look.

It’s easy to think you’re just being thoughtful or taking your time. But when things get more serious, your system starts to slow things down for a reason.

You begin to think more about what to say, how it might be received, and what it could lead to. So instead of responding naturally, you create a bit of space to process and regulate what feels like too much.

This is how the Leaving pattern can show up. It creates distance so you can feel more in control of the moment.

It doesn’t feel like control in the moment. It feels like you’re just trying to keep things steady, predictable, and manageable.

Staying on top of everything, thinking ahead, and keeping structure in place can feel like the only way to feel okay. But over time, that pressure to hold it all together can make it hard to relax, slow down, or let things be.

This is how the Rigid pattern works. It creates stability and control, but it can also keep your system in a constant state of tension.

If you want to go deeper into understanding your Rigid pattern, head over to my YouTube channel for the full breakdown.

Rest should feel restorative, but for some people, it doesn’t.

When your sense of worth is tied to how much you do, slowing down can feel uncomfortable instead of relieving. You might feel restless, guilty, or like you should be doing something more productive, even when your body clearly needs a break.

Research shows that when self-worth is linked to productivity, rest can actually trigger anxiety. Not because rest is wrong, but because your system has learned that value comes from output.

This is how the Rigid pattern can show up. It keeps you moving and in control, but makes it harder to feel at ease when you’re not doing.

You can look calm, composed, and in control on the surface. You handle things as they come, stay steady, and don’t react right away. But instead of processing what you feel, you hold it in and keep going.

Over time, that builds. What you didn’t say, what you didn’t process, and what you kept to yourself starts to stack up in the background. When your system reaches its limit, it doesn’t come out as a reaction. It shows up as a shutdown.

This is how the Enduring pattern works. It keeps things stable externally, but protects you by shutting things off when it becomes too much.

It can feel like you’re just being present, attentive, and easy to be around. You read the room, respond to people well, and make sure the interaction stays smooth. But that level of awareness takes energy, especially when you’re constantly adjusting to keep the connection steady.

Over time, that mental and emotional effort doesn’t just switch off. It can stay with you even after the interaction ends, which is why you feel drained.

This is how the Merging pattern works. It keeps you closely attuned to others to maintain connection, but it can also pull you away from your own energy.

Follow me to learn more about the Merging pattern and how it shows up in your everyday interactions.
