Therapy shouldn't be out of reach because of a paycheck. Every counseling program at Valley Family Center runs on a sliding scale, which means the fee adjusts based on a client's income, not a fixed rate that assumes everyone's budget looks the same.

Sessions are available in person or by video, in English and Spanish, for individuals, couples, and families.

If now feels like the right time, start with an intake call by reaching us at valleyfamilycenter.org/contact.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the most important thing we can say is this: you're not alone. Valley Family Center supports victims, their children, and the people working to change their own behavior, all through coordinated, bilingual care.

Recovery isn't one conversation. It's a series of small, steady steps: a group session, a safety plan, a moment where someone finally feels believed. That's what your support funds.

Help someone take that first step. Give at valleyfamilycenter.org/donate. Help us continue the work!

What an incredible honor it was to join our amazing friends and supporters at Giving From the Heart’s annual Sip & Support this past weekend. ❤️✨

There is something so beautiful about watching a community come together with open hearts and a shared purpose — to give hope, create opportunities, and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. 🫶

Because of the incredible generosity of the Giving From the Heart Foundation, Valley Family Center has been able to provide FREE Children’s Emotional Support Groups to families in our community, as well as sponsorships for individual therapy for some of our clients who need it most. 💙

These are more than just services. They are opportunities for children to feel heard, families to feel supported, and individuals to know that they are not alone.

We are deeply grateful for the continued love, generosity, and belief in our mission that Giving From the Heart has shown us. Your support truly changes lives — and we are so honored to be part of this beautiful community alongside you. ❤️

Here’s to many more successful events, countless lives touched, and a community that continues to give from the heart. 🥂💙

Growing as a parent or learning to manage anger doesn't happen by accident. It happens in a room with other people working on the same thing, with a facilitator who's seen the pattern before and knows how to help someone name it, and give the tools to change the negative behaviors.

Our parenting education and anger management groups meet regularly, in English and Spanish, with fees scaled based on family income.

Today we had a super fun—and meaningful—activity with our teens! 🍉🍉🍉🍉
We talked about the different stressors teens experience, from school and friendships to family, expectations, and everything in between. We discussed what can happen when we keep those feelings inside, don’t ask for help, and continue to bottle things up.
To make the lesson more relatable, we used a watermelon and rubber bands to show what happens when pressure continues to build. With every rubber band we added, the pressure increased—just like stress can build up when we don’t talk about what we’re feeling. Eventually, the watermelon couldn’t handle the pressure. 🍉💥
The takeaway for our teens: You don’t have to carry everything by yourself. Asking for help, talking to someone you trust, and finding healthy ways to cope can help keep the pressure from becoming overwhelming. 💛
And yes… Jovanna Kelly scrubbed down the courtyard with a TON of water and soap because she will NOT be responsible for an ant invasion! 😂🐜.

The teens in our Emotional Skills Group created some amazing artwork last week! 🎨✨

Using mosaic art, they explored creative ways to express their thoughts, feelings, and personal strengths.

One powerful message from a participant’s artwork was:

“MY VOICE WILL HELP ME STAY SAFE.” 💙

A reminder that speaking up, expressing our feelings, and asking for help are important ways we can advocate for ourselves and stay safe.

We’re proud of our teens for using creativity to find their voice and express what matters to them.

The heart behind the scenes rarely gets the spotlight. Our office manager and program coordinator are often the first voice a family hears when they call, the ones who match someone with the right group, and the ones who keep every schedule running so our clinicians can focus on the people in front of them.

None of our counseling happens without that quiet, steady work first.

Have a question about scheduling or want to say thanks? Call us directly at (818) 365-8588.

Language shouldn't stand between a family and healing. At Valley Family Center, every program, from individual therapy to our domestic violence groups, runs fully in English and Spanish. That means a parent more comfortable speaking Spanish never has to settle for a translated summary of care. They get full support in the language they think in.

If you know someone who's been putting off getting help because they weren't sure they'd be understood, share this. Learn more at valleyfamilycenter.org.

This week, the teens in our Emotional Skills Group lead by Jovanna Kelly participated in a meaningful activity by creating “Anxiety Rocks.” 🪨💛
This creative exercise helped turn anxiety into something we can see, understand, and talk about. Each rock represents a teen’s unique experience of what anxiety feels like to them, creating a safe space to explore emotions that can sometimes be difficult to put into words.
We’re proud of our teens for using creativity, courage, and self-expression to better understand their emotions. 🌱✨
