Access Institute is pleased to offer this exceptional painting by the renowned contemporary Austrian artist Xenia Hausner. The painting will be auctioned at the Spectrum Gala & Art Auction on March 12th.

Hausner is known for her dynamically patterned, full-scale paintings of women. Using oil and acrylic paints she combines expressionist and realist practices. In addition to the dominance of female figures, fiction and invention are her central themes. Her images are enigmatic and the situations she depicts ambiguous. In contrast to the classical portrait, the characters in her images play the roles of people other than themselves, like actors in a play. Born in 1951 in Vienna, Austria as the daughter of the painter Rudolf Hausner, she went on to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Her work has been exhibited worldwide, including at Galerie Thomas in Munich, Art Cologne, the Museum Quarter Kunsthalle in Vienna, and Forum Gallery in Los Angeles, among many others. Haunser lives and works in Berlin, Germany and Vienna, Austria.
