🌟 National Senior Citizens Day — August 21st

Today we take a moment to honour the older adults who have shaped our families, our communities, and our world.

At ameriCARE San Francisco, every day is an opportunity to show up for the seniors we serve. But today feels like a good moment to say it a little louder.

The people we care for are not defined by their age or by what they need support with. They are defined by a lifetime of experience, wisdom, resilience, and contribution. They raised families. They built careers. They showed up for the people around them, often for decades, before anyone thought to ask if they needed anything in return.

Our job is to make sure that as their needs change, their dignity does not. That every person has the choice to age in place, in the home they love, in the way that feels right for them. Not the way that is easiest for everyone else. The way they choose.

That choice matters. It is one of the most important things we can protect for the people we serve. And it is one of the reasons we are proud to be walking in the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's® San Francisco this October. Because for so many of the seniors we care for, Alzheimer's and dementia are part of that story. And honouring them means showing up for them in every way we can, including fighting for a future where that disease no longer defines what ageing looks like.

To every senior in our community today — thank you. It is a privilege to be part of your lives. ✨

🤝 Stronger Together — The Power of Being Part of Something Bigger

One of the things we are most grateful for at ameriCARE San Francisco is the community we belong to.

Being part of the ameriCARE network means we are never navigating this work alone. We are connected to a national community of owners, operators, and care professionals who share the same values, the same standards, and the same deep commitment to the people we serve. And that connection makes us better at what we do.

We were reminded of that recently at the ameriCARE corporate conference, where our Director of Operations Rose Tauro Cesca was recognised with the MVP Award for Excellence. It was a proud moment for our team, and a reflection of what this brand stands for — people who show up with their whole heart, every single day.

But what stayed with us just as much was the time spent with fellow ameriCARE owners and managers from across the country. Those conversations matter. When you bring together a room full of people who are all navigating the complexities of in-home care, supporting clients through some of the most challenging chapters of their lives, the collective wisdom in that room is extraordinary.

Clients living with complex health needs do not always have a straightforward path forward. Navigating conditions like dementia, chronic illness, post-surgical recovery, or the intersection of all three requires more than good instincts. It requires experience, collaboration, and the willingness to learn from people who have seen and solved similar challenges before.

That commitment to showing up for our community extends beyond our doors too. We are proud to share that ameriCARE San Francisco will be walking in the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's® San Francisco this October — because being stronger together means fighting for the people we serve, not just caring for them day to day.

That is what being part of a network gives us. And it is what our clients benefit from every time we walk through their door.

We are proud of what we are building here in San Francisco. And we are proud to be part of something bigger. ✨

August is National Wellness Month, a reminder that caring for your health goes beyond doctor visits. Small, everyday habits can make a meaningful difference in your overall well-being, especially as we age.

Take a walk, enjoy a balanced meal, stay hydrated, connect with loved ones, keep your mind active, and make time to rest. Prioritizing wellness doesn't require big changes. It's the simple, consistent choices that help support a healthier, happier life.

At ameriCARE, we're committed to helping older adults maintain their independence while supporting their physical, emotional, and social well-being every step of the way.

Here's to making wellness a priority this month and all year long.

💜 ameriCARE San Francisco is Walking to End Alzheimer's®

We are proud to announce that ameriCARE San Francisco will be participating in the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's® San Francisco.

Last week, we attended the San Francisco Walk Kickoff, and it was one of those evenings that stays with you. We met a wonderful group of people from all walks of life, each there for their own deeply personal reason: a parent, a spouse, a friend, a client, or someone they loved who has been affected by Alzheimer's. Every person showed up because they believe that together, we can change what this disease means for future generations.

That sense of hope and determination is exactly why this cause matters so much to us. At ameriCARE San Francisco, we work alongside clients and families navigating Alzheimer's and dementia every day. We see firsthand the challenges this disease brings, not only for the person living with it, but also for the family members and loved ones walking the journey beside them. We want to be part of the movement working toward a future without Alzheimer's.

The Alzheimer's Association does so much more than organize walks. Their 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) is available around the clock for anyone affected by Alzheimer's or dementia, whether you're a family member trying to understand a new diagnosis, a caregiver looking for guidance, or someone who simply needs a compassionate voice to talk to. It is one of the most valuable resources in our community, and one we regularly share with the families we serve.

If you'd like to support our fundraising efforts, we'd love to have you with us.
