Taking care of yourself goes more than skin deep. 💗

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and as a board-certified dermatologist, my commitment to my patients’ health extends beyond their skin.

I spend my days screening for skin cancer, teaching patients what changes to look for, and reminding them not to put off getting checked. That same conversation includes staying current with their other recommended cancer screenings. This October is no exception.

And yes, I take my own advice! Here I am at Eve Wellness, making time for my breast health. Their 3D breast ultrasound can complement mammography, particularly for women with dense breast tissue. Ultrasound can also evaluate the tail of the breast near the armpit and underarm lymph nodes when those areas are included in the exam, offering a closer look at areas mammograms may not fully capture. It doesn’t replace your mammogram, so ask your doctor whether supplemental imaging is right for you.
