We are proud to announce one of our 2026 QTAPI Honorees: Michelle Meow!

Michelle Meow is the host and producer of "The Michelle Meow Show.” The program’s tag line is: ‘Your A-Z, covering the LGBT, LMNOP, and everyone in between.’ Michelle’s mission is constructing opportunities for people to listen in to deep conversations and to develop understanding and empathy. Michelle’s program can be heard through the Commonwealth Club World Affairs of CA, which at times are aired on KQED.
In addition to her own program, Michelle produces multiple other programs at the iconic Commonwealth Club World Affairs, where she is a member of the Board of Governors. There she is dedicated to generating conversations around social justice with an intersectional lens.
Michelle served as a co-host of the San Francisco Pride Parade broadcast from 2006-2018 and she has also served as the President of the Pride organization’s Board of Directors from 2014-2018.
In 2020, Michelle produced Global Pride with the Commonwealth Club World Affairs, Youtube and Interpride, the first ever virtual global live event focused on the LGBTQIA+ community.
From 2022-2025, Michelle supported efforts in Asia to amplify LGBTQIA+ rights through activism and advocacy in Thailand, a country that has just passed marriage equality.

We are proud to announce one of our 2026 QTAPI Honorees: Nick Large aka Kristi Yummykochi

Nick LARGE, like the size, AKA Kristi Yummykochi, yummy as in delicious, coochie also as in delicious, is a mixed-race Yonsei policy analyst drag queen based in San Francisco. During the day, Nick works with communities to address homelessness by evaluating systems and trying to get them more money. During the night, Kristi Yummykochi of the Rice Rockettes comes out encouraging critical social dialogue and eating of the rich (this also happens during the day too). Nick currently has an exhibit running through the end of June at the National Japanese American Historical Society (NJAHS) called Q***r Japantown. Please visit it or somewhere a puppy will start crying!

Join us in honoring, Nick Large, next week May 27th, 2026, 5 pm at San Francisco City Hall Steps!

Since 1987, San Francisco Community Health Center (SFCHC) has stood at the frontlines in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the Asian & Pacific Islander (API) community, and in 2005, we honored the fight by establishing National API HIV/AIDS Awareness Day for the API community on May 19th.

This day is an opportunity to raise awareness and uplift the API communities on the prevalence of HIV/AIDS and ensure representation within these populations in HIV/AIDS related research and policy. It also allows for the recognization of the importance of routine HIV testing and status awareness, as well preventive tools and patient-centered care for the Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.

This Friday, May 22, 2026, SFCHC will host an event to commemorate National API HIV/AIDS Awareness Day at Trans Thrive located at 1460 Pine Street, San Francisco, CA from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

We hope you can join us for a fireside chat with distinct members of the SFCHC staff who will share their personal and professional experience of fighting the stigma and barriers related to HIV/AIDS. The event will also offer free sexual health testing, food and refreshments, and entertainment by Mx Kiki Krunch.
