Board-certified dermatologist, Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon. Dr. Hui is passionate about teaching.

Dr. Andrea Hui is a board-certified dermatologist who joined Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology in October 2014. As a fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon, Dr. Hui is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers, Mohs micrographic surgery, and reconstructive surgery. She has also received years of extensive training in cosmetic dermatology, including, fillers, neuromodulators, and lasers

. Dr. Hui was born and raised in Chicago. She completed her medical training at University of Illinois, graduating at the top of her class as a recipient of the Alpha Omega Alpha award. After finishing her medicine internship at University of Chicago-Evanston Hospital, she moved to New York City to complete her dermatology residency at SUNY Downstate, serving as chief resident. Dr. Hui then received further training in Mohs surgery and cosmetic dermatology in a procedural fellowship at SUNY Downstate with the past president of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Daniel Siegel. Dr. Hui is dedicated to helping her patients achieve and maintain beautiful skin through education and a personalized skincare plan. She has authored over 20 papers and book chapters, with a special focus on acne and integrative medicine. She is also an educator in neuromodulators, fillers, and lasers, often speaking at worldwide dermatology and plastic surgery conferences and providing one-on-one training to other dermatologists. Dr. Hui welcomes dermatology residents to spend a few days with her in the office to learn procedural dermatology. As a child, Dr. Hui developed a love for art and music. She spent her time drawing and studying the human form, practicing proportions, lines, and the play of shadows and light. Dr. Hui is an avid photographer who strives to capture beauty through her lens. She believes photography is especially important to help patients follow their aesthetic progress through time. As an accomplished concert pianist, Dr. Hui also brings a unique artistic touch to surgical and cosmetic dermatology. She owes much of her surgical and aesthetic skills to her continued passion and practice of the arts. In her spare time, Dr. Hui enjoys spending time with her family, significant other, two dogs, and friends. She is an avid traveler and adores engaging in new cultures and cuisines. She enjoys the outdoors and especially loves snowboarding and hiking.

This week, Dr. Austin was back at SUNY Downstate teaching the dermatology residents, bringing everything she learned from the MERZ Expert Summit to the residents! This week, we perfected the hyperdilute Radiesse technique with cannula for skin tightening on the face, neck, and chest (décolleté), hot off the presses! Dr. Austin also connected with her dear residency attendings; what an honor it was to teach and share with those who taught her. ❤️ See one, do one, teach one!

Through Dr. Austin, the dermatology residents at SUNY Downstate are the *FIRST* dermatology residency program to try the newest filler and neuromodulator (wrinkle relaxer) techniques that will soon become the forefront of cosmetic dermatology. Lip contours are everything. In contrast to our last post highlighting lip filler, this is an example of Dr. Austin’s surgical expertise in reconstructing this patient’s natural lip contours. This sweet patient had an unfortunate basal cell skin cancer, which extended deeply and widely, obliterating almost his entire left upper lip. Dr. Austin performed Mohs surgery to provide a cure, then performed an “advancement flap” to beautifully repair his lip.

Dr. Austin is attending the 2019 MERZ Expert Summit in Munich, Germany! She is so excited to learn new injectable techniques from the stellar panel of world-renowned physicians, and spend time with dear colleagues. She even had time to explore Munich and enjoy this beautiful country.

It’s time to get a ! The holidays are coming! Dr. Austin loves Laser Genesis, a rejuvenating, collagen-stimulating laser treatment that restores one’s luminous skin tone, treats fine lines, and reduces large pores and acne/inflammation. Dr. Austin recommends an initial four sessions spaced one month apart, then every three months for maintenance. Best of all, there is zero downtime, only GLOW-time!

SUNY Downstate is the *FIRST* dermatology residency program to receive Jeuveau, a new neuromodulator (muscle relaxer) for smoothing the lines between the brows!
