The UCSF Airway Clinical Research Center is looking for young adults ages 18-30 for a new paid Asthma Study. Potential participants must have an asthma diagnoses, prescribed inhaled corticosteriod and have a smart phone. This study is a completely remote study and does NOT require visits to UCSF. The current air quality in San Francisco and the Bay area is at a very unhealthy level. People with lung-related medical conditions, such as asthma, emphysema or heart disease, older adults, and children should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion. These groups are encouraged to follow their health care provider’s guidance, and seek care in a timely manner if they have symptoms or concerns.

Everyone else should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion. Please contact your health care provider if you experience the following symptoms:

Repeated coughing
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing 

Wheezing 

Chest tightness or pain 

Heart palpitations 

Nausea or unusual fatigue 

Lightheadedness 


Other recommendations to help manage health-related symptoms due to poor air quality include staying hydrated, using eye drops and nose sprays and taking throat lozenges.

The UCSF Airway Clinical Research Center is seeking adults to participate in an asthma research study to investigate airway inflammation and airway changes that occur after exposure to allergens.

Participants must be 18-50 years of age, with or without asthma. Study involves 3 visits and a medical procedure (bronchoscopy). Up to $1060.00 compensation.
