Wanting change is not inherently a problem.

In healthy circumstances change is often seen as necessary for growth, healing, accountability, and improvement.

The conflict arises when people benefit from the status quo.

If a family functions through denial, scapegoating, favoritism, emotional immaturity, intimidation, or avoidance, then the person who starts asking questions or pointing out problems becomes a threat, not because they're wrong, but because they're disrupting a system that protects others from responsibility.

In that situation, the issue isn't really the desire for change.

The issue is that change requires people to examine themselves, acknowledge harm, or give up privileges they've become comfortable with.

Many dysfunctional systems have an unspoken rule:
"Don't disturb what's working for us, even if it's harming someone else."

The scapegoated person often violates that rule simply by refusing to silently accept what is unhealthy.

The conversation continues in the comments....
