And if you're in Northern California, we're excited to continue growing our newest support group community: The Aneurysm and AVM Foundation SF Bay Area Support Group at UCSF.

For many years, TAAF's support group was rooted at UCSF. When the pandemic told us we couldn't be together, we built something new—an online community that now reaches survivors, caregivers, and families across the country and around the world.

Returning to UCSF isn't a replacement for that community. It's an extension of it. A coming home.

June is Migraine & Headache Awareness Month 💜

Migraine and headache are often used interchangeably—but they're not the same thing.

This month, we're sharing facts to help raise awareness, reduce misconceptions, and encourage people to recognize when symptoms may require medical attention.

🔹 A headache is a symptom.
🔹 Migraine is a neurological disease.
🔹 Not every severe headache is a migraine.
🔹 Some headaches can signal a medical emergency.

A thunderclap headache is sudden, severe, and reaches maximum intensity within seconds to minutes. It is different from a typical migraine and should be evaluated immediately.

🚨 Seek emergency care for:
• A sudden "worst headache of your life"
• A thunderclap headache
• Head pain with weakness, confusion, vision changes, difficulty speaking, or loss of consciousness

Millions of people live with migraine disease, including many in the brain aneurysm, AVM, and HHT communities.

Awareness matters. Knowing the difference can save lives.

The Future of Cerebrovascular Research Starts Here.

We are proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 TAAF Cerebrovascular Research Grants.

This year, TAAF received a record-breaking 35 applications, making this one of the most competitive grant cycles in our history. After careful review, four projects were selected for funding—each offering new hope for patients affected by brain aneurysms and AVMs.

Swipe to meet the researchers and learn more about their work.

To every researcher who applied: thank you. To every donor, fundraiser, volunteer, and supporter who made these grants possible: this is your impact.

Together, we are building a future with more answers, better treatments, and more hope.

🐾 Calling all TAAF pet families! 🐾

Our Picture Purrfect July newsletter celebrates the pets who helped us through brain aneurysms, AVMs, strokes, recovery, and everything in between — and we want to feature YOURS.

Send us a favorite photo (and, if you’d like, a short story or sentence about what they mean to you). Pets with us now and those across the rainbow bridge are both welcome. 🌈

Deadline: June 15, 2026

Nausea can be more than a stomach bug.

Sudden nausea or vomiting—especially alongside headache, dizziness, or other neurological changes—can be a sign of hemorrhagic stroke.

Hemorrhagic stroke IS stroke. Don’t wait. Get scanned.

PAWS AND POSE FOR THE CAMERA

Does your pet deserve a spotlight? (The answer is yes.)

Our Picture Purrfect July newsletter is ALL about the animals who've been by our sides through brain aneurysms, AVMs, strokes, and everything in between. We want to meet them.

🐾 Every-Bunny Counts (Tier 1) — Just a photo and your name. Or add one sentence: What does your pet mean to you?

🐾 Tails of Triumph (Tier 2) — Tell us one moment your pet showed up for you. A short paragraph is all we need.

Stories about pets still with you AND those who've crossed the rainbow bridge are welcome. 🌈
