Presenting at , part two!
Following my skill-building session on s*x therapy with trans and gender diverse clients, I will be sharing "Resilience and Minority Stress in the Mental Health of As*xual Transgender Adults" as part of New Frontiers in Trans and Gender Diversity Research, the APA Division 44 Transgender and Gender Diverse Committee symposium.
As*xual and TGD communities overlap substantially, yet quantitative research on resilience at that intersection has been scarce. Drawing on data from 300 as*xual TGD adults, we examine which resilience resources relate to lower psychological distress, and what that means for affirming clinical practice. The work was supported by the Division 44 APA: Psychology of S*xual Orientation and Gender Diversity Transgender Research Award.
With co-authors Ava Nusblatt, Kaela Joseph, PhD, and Kimberly Balsam, PhD, of Palo Alto University. I am grateful to be presenting alongside Brandon Velez, PhD, whose work addresses correlates of transgender and gender diverse client experiences. Em Matsuno, PhD, is serving as symposium chair.
