It's September. Yes, it's flu shot time. Here's why early actually matters. 💉

Your body needs about two weeks after the shot to build protection, so a September or October shot means you're covered before flu season actually gets going. And no, it doesn't wear off before spring. One and done.

Our primary care offices offer flu shots, and so do most pharmacies. Wherever is easiest: just get it on the calendar.

September is Sexual Health Awareness Month, so we're running a quick do-over: most STIs have zero symptoms, condoms lower risk but don't erase it, PrEP and PEP are options before and after, and asking a partner when they were last tested is normal, not rude.

No pop quizzes or judgment. Just answers, testing, and treatment when you need it.

Hot take: you can't sweat out toxins. 🥵

Sweat is almost entirely water and a little salt. Its one job is cooling you down, and it's very good at it.

The actual detox department? Your liver and kidneys, which are already working around the clock.

Sweating a lot usually means your body is doing its job. Sweating with dizziness, cramps, or confusion in this heat is worth a visit.

Sprained ankles, grill burns, mystery bug bites, and ""how long was the potato salad out?"" moments don't check the calendar. Minor emergencies don't take holidays, and neither do we.

Check your clinic's holiday hours online before you head in, then get back to the weekend.

Fever at 6am. School starts at 8. Now what? 🤒

The quick version: keep them home for a fever of 100.4°F or higher, vomiting, or diarrhea. A runny nose with no fever and normal energy is usually fine for school.

The comeback rule most schools use: 24 hours fever-free without medicine before they return.

Sore throat with a fever or a rash you can't explain? That's worth a quick, professional look. Strep and flu tests take minutes.

New job or new school asking about a TB test? Here's the 60 second version. ⏱️

Step one is usually a risk assessment with a few questions. No risk factors? You may not need a test at all.

If you do need one, there are three ways: the skin test (quick poke, back in 2 to 3 days for the read), the blood test (one visit, done), or in some cases a chest X-ray (also one visit, no return trip).

A positive doesn't mean you're sick or contagious. It means follow-up, and we'll walk you through it.

Heads up: TB testing for work or school usually isn't covered by insurance, so plan for an out-of-pocket visit. You'll know the price upfront.

Can cranberry juice cure a UTI? Settling this once and for all. 🧃

No. Once you have a UTI, antibiotics are the treatment, and waiting it out with juice can give the infection time to get worse.

Cranberry products may help some people prevent repeat UTIs, but prevention and treatment are two different jobs.

Burning, urgency, or that constant gotta-go feeling? Walk in, get tested, get treated.
