People leaving jail or prison after they’ve served their time often face several barriers entering society, most notably, trying to find a job. The Reentry and Diversion Center, in collaboration with San José City College created a college program to help individuals overcome those challenges! Former incarcerated individuals can earn a certificate in drug and alcohol peer mentorship so they can not only work but potentially save the lives of individuals battling substance use addiction. New affordable housing for seniors is coming to downtown San José. The County and partners broke ground Thursday on East Santa Clara Senior, which will add 81 units of affordable housing for seniors who have low incomes or have experienced homelessness.

The County and developer Eden Housing are working with neighbors and Preservation Action Council of San Jose to preserve and restore a historic building on the site.
