Ever get to an appointment and suddenly forget how to explain what you’ve been feeling? 😅

You don’t need medical terms. “It burns when I sit,” “it shoots down my leg,” or “it aches enough to wake me up” gives your provider more to work with than “it hurts.”

Burning, aching and shooting describe a feeling. A word alone doesn’t establish a diagnosis. Where it happens, how long it lasts and what it keeps you from doing matter, too.

📝 Save this for your next appointment. Even a few notes in your phone can help you remember what you wanted to say.

Back pain can come from more than just tight or sore muscles. Nerves, joints, and the discs between your spine's bones can all contribute to pain, so understanding the source matters.

We help patients better understand what may be causing their pain and explore treatment options based on their individual needs.

Reaching for a box on a shelf shouldn’t feel like a major challenge. Frozen shoulder, also called adhesive capsulitis, can cause pain and stiffness that make it difficult to raise your arm or move your shoulder through its normal range of motion.

Frozen shoulder develops when the tissue surrounding the shoulder joint becomes tight and stiff. It can happen without a clear cause, but it is more common in adults aged 40–60 and in people with certain conditions, including diabetes. It can also develop after an injury or surgery if the shoulder has been immobile for an extended period.

Recovery can take time, but treatment may help reduce pain and gradually improve mobility.

Sometimes pain has you wishing your body would just… “let it go.” 🎶

And during acupuncture, that gentle movement of the needle may actually be part of helping your body respond to treatment.

This technique is called **lifting and thrusting**, and it’s used to stimulate the tissue around the needle and adjust the level of stimulation during treatment.

So what does that have to do with pain?

Your nervous system carries pain signals between your body and brain, and research suggests acupuncture may influence how those signals are processed. For some people, acupuncture may help with conditions like chronic back pain, neck pain, and knee pain related to osteoarthritis.

Curious if acupuncture could be part of your pain care?

Neck pain can have a lot of different causes, which is why it’s important to pay attention to how it feels, when it happens, and whether it’s getting worse.

Muscle tension, poor posture, stress, injuries, nerve irritation, joint problems, and even sitting in the same position for long periods can all contribute to neck pain. In some cases, conditions like osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis may also play a role.

Common symptoms can include stiffness, tenderness, muscle tightness, limited range of motion, or pain that spreads into the shoulders, upper back, or head. Some people may also notice balance issues along with their neck pain.

If your pain is persistent, worsening, or starting to interfere with your daily routine, it may be time to get evaluated. Identifying the source of the pain can help guide a treatment plan that is specific to your symptoms and needs.

At Allied Pain & Spine Institute, we help patients understand what may be contributing to their pain and explore personalized treatment options.

Low back pain can come from more than just a pulled muscle. Common causes include muscle strain, joint inflammation, disc changes, sciatica, spinal stenosis, and pressure on nearby nerves.

Symptoms may include dull aches, sharp pain, numbness, tingling, or pain that gets worse with certain movements. If your pain is persistent, worsening, or interfering with daily life, it may be time to get evaluated.
