Today in Downtown Willow Glen, I met two young women volunteering to raise funds to help bring D.A.R.E. education back into our schools, one classroom at a time.
I stopped because D.A.R.E. means something to me personally.
I was a kid in the 90s when D.A.R.E. came into my school. I still remember learning about drugs, alcohol, and to***co and, more importantly, learning how to say NO before I was ever put in a situation where I needed to.
And eventually, like so many kids, those situations came.
That education gave us knowledge before we had to make choices.
So when I saw these two young women, each with stories of their own, giving their time to advocate for kids today, I couldnât just walk by.
The challenges facing this generation may look different. Today weâre talking about fentanyl, substance abuse, bullying, mental health, peer pressure, and risks that extend into the online world.
But the principle is the same:
Education before exposure.
Prevention before crisis.
Give kids the tools before they need them.
Thatâs why Gwen Aesthetics was proud to donate to support their efforts and the D.A.R.E. mission. â¤ď¸
GA may be an aesthetics business, but we are also parents, healthcare professionals, neighbors, and members of this community.
I want Gwen Aesthetics to represent more than what happens inside our treatment room.
I want our success to create opportunities to give back.
Today, that meant supporting two young women who chose to stand up for other kids and helping them get a little closer to their goal.
One child. One classroom. One community at a time.
