So… should you do PGT-A? 🤔

Here’s the honest answer: there’s no universal right answer.
PGT-A can be a genuinely valuable tool — especially if you’re older, have had recurrent miscarriages, or have multiple embryos to choose from.

But it’s not magic. It doesn’t guarantee success. It doesn’t replace prenatal testing. It has biological, technical, and analytical limitations that are real and worth understanding.
The best decision is an informed one — made with a doctor who takes the time to explain both the benefits and the limitations for your specific situation.

If you ever feel like you’re only hearing one side of this conversation, it’s okay to ask more questions. You deserve the full picture. 💙

Let’s clear something up. ⬇️

PGT-A tells you about the chromosomes of an embryo.

It does NOT:
❌ Guarantee a healthy baby
❌ Replace prenatal testing (NIPT, anatomy scan, amnio)
❌ Screen for all genetic conditions
❌ Test the embryo’s full genetic makeup

Whether you do PGT-A or not, all standard prenatal testing during pregnancy should still happen. Every time. No exceptions.

PGT-A is a selection tool — not a guarantee. There’s a big difference.

When you have multiple embryos after an IVF cycle, how do you choose which one to transfer?
That’s one of the hardest questions in reproductive medicine — and it’s exactly what PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy) tries to help answer.
PGT-A tests embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before transfer. The goal: identify embryos most likely to implant and least likely to miscarry.
Sounds straightforward. But like most things in fertility medicine, the full picture is more nuanced.
Over the next few posts, we’ll break down what PGT-A can — and can’t — do for you. 🧬
