Lemons to Lemonade A teen created workbook and summer camp to help kids like us navigate their grief journey ๏ฟฝ

May is Mental Health Awareness Month ๐Ÿ’š

And the truth is, behind each photo here is a child who has experienced the loss of a parent or sibling. In fact, 1 in 12 children will experience the death of a parent or sibling before turning 18.

This kind of loss is traumatic, and one small but important part of healing is keeping the memory of your loved one alive.
Thatโ€™s exactly what Lemons to Lemonade is all about ๐Ÿ‹

Meet Lyla ๐Ÿ’›

AP student, softball athlete, loyal friend, and now the incredible leader behind our Teen Advisory Board at Lemons to Lemonade ๐Ÿ‹

When Sophia shared her dream of building a team of teen leaders to help support grieving children in our community, Lyla immediately stepped up to the challenge โ€” and completely blew us away.

From the ground up, she helped build a Teen Advisory Board that now includes 40+ student volunteers from 3 Orange County high schools. Even more meaningful, she helped connect grieving teens in our community who now serve on the board alongside her.

Lylaโ€™s leadership, kindness, and ability to bring people together have already made such a huge impact on our organization, and we are beyond grateful to have her on our team.

We cannot wait for everyone to meet this amazing group of teen leaders this summer ๐Ÿ’›

This is what a grief camp looks like ๐Ÿ‹

You wouldnโ€™t know it just by looking, but every kid here has been through something unimaginable, losing a parent or sibling. ๐Ÿ’”

This is a place where they get to be around kids that understand- and we are not even griefy. We just understand, because weโ€™ve lost a parent too.

Thatโ€™s what Lemons to Lemonade is all about. Building resilience, connection, and helping these kids move forward with confidence. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ‹

๐Ÿ‹ This is the heart behind Lemons to Lemonade.

When I was younger, my dad died suddenly, and I was fortunate to have incredible grief support that helped me feel understood and not alone. But when I moved to Orange County, I was surprised to find that there were very few resources for kids who had lost a parent or loved one.

So I decided to create it.

Through camps, meet-ups, and our growing community, my hope is to help kids feel connected, supported, and reminded that they are going to be okay.

Please watch, and if this speaks to you, we invite you to learn more on our website or share this with a family who may need this support. ๐Ÿ‹
