Palliative care is not hospice. And understanding the difference can change how we care for people living with serious illness.
Too often, palliative care is misunderstood as something reserved for the very end of life. In reality, it fills a critical gap for patients who need additional support but aren't yet ready for hospice — helping them manage symptoms, continue treatment, and spend more quality days at home.
In a recent podcast conversation, Vynca Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jill Schwartz-Chevlin explores some of the most important questions about palliative care:
🔹 How does palliative care differ from hospice?
🔹 When should patients begin receiving palliative care?
🔹 How can earlier support improve quality of life and help prevent unnecessary hospitalizations?
At the heart of the conversation is a simple but powerful idea: Better care starts with understanding what matters most to patients.
