Your throat starts to hurt, and you start feeling wiped out – these are common signs of the beginning of a cold. If you want to avoid getting a cold regularly, it’s important that you are regularly integrating superfoods into your diet. Superfoods are essentially foods that have an especially high level of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The high concentrations of nutrients make them some of the best foods to eat for your health.
Here are a few foods to add to your diet to help you stop any viruses before they start!
• Garlic: Garlic is full of antioxidants and has been shown to help with high blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
• Ginger: Ginger helps reduce inflammation and relieve pain. It also helps with nausea.
• Goji berries: These berries are full of vitamin C, B vitamins, essential fatty acids, amino acids, and minerals.
• Chia seeds: Chia seeds contain omega-3 fatty acids and provide the body with plant-based protein.
• Matcha: Matcha contains plenty of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements, which make matcha an effective way to fight a cold or flu.
• Kale: Kale is a superfood that is high in antioxidants, which helps boost your immune system, defending your body from diseases such as Alzheimer’s and arteriosclerosis.
• Blueberries: Blueberries are full of vitamin C and potassium as well as other important vitamins and are a great snack to eat during cold season.

In between visits to the chiropractor, how can you keep feeling your best? There are many things you can do to keep your joints free of restriction and dysfunction between visits. Here are a few tips to follow:
• Exercise: Chiropractic care is all about maintaining your health and wellness and there is no better way to do that than getting up and moving your body.
• Maintain good posture: If you have bad posture, make sure you are conscious of how you are sitting and take note of any movements that are contributing to your pain.
• Stretching: Along with exercise, stretching is important for your spinal health. Stretching helps keep you flexible and helps maintain your balance.
• Take time to relax: When you’re stressed, it adds to neck pain and back pain, which can reduce your range of motion. Try to identify and address the source of stress in your life.
There are many things you can do to maintain the benefits of chiropractic adjustments, but you must be actively aware of how your body is feeling. There is a lot of information floating around about what you should do in times like we are experiencing right now. While it is scary for many people, the best thing you can do is remain calm. There is no need to rush out and hoard toilet paper and hand sanitizer! Here a few things you can do to keep yourself and everyone around you safe:
• Wash your hands: Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. This is especially important after you have been in a public place, or after coughing or sneezing. Use hand sanitizer when you don’t have access to soap and water.
• Keep a distance: Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. Keep an eye out on any new information the authorities are giving to citizens.
• Be cautious: Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
• Face mask: You should only wear a face mask if you are sick and need to be in public, especially at hospitals.
• Clean up: Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily, including tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
