"Affirming care requires that therapists center liberation and justice. Many practicing systemic family therapists were not trained to work inclusively or affirmatively with LGBTQ+ clients and have taken steps to seek out trainings and resources. Cultural humility practices call us to engage in ongoing reflection and education."

Reflection Prompt:
Think of 4 meaningful identities of yourself that are somehow related to your
1) culture, 2) community, or 3) family (or family stories of you).
Why or how are those identities meaningful to you? Have they always been meaningful? What are the family stories you remember about these roles?
What positive characteristics or strengths can you find for yourself in each of these identities?

How to Prepare
Options are:
1)Select and have with you OR
2) have in mind several objects that you feel are representative of your positive personal characteristics.

In either case, these could be actual objects you’ve had OR they may be objects that you newly select as you think about this prompt.
**You can still participate in the training even if you have not selected these items.

Variations include, but not limited to: a picture of the object, your own personal drawing of the object, or simply writing the name of the object down. Please note that the final objective is to place this object at your home altar or space of intention.

Please do the same for several concerns you are experiencing currently. These could be daily struggles, challenges, issues or stressors or long term life challenges or struggles.

If you are in therapy make sure to let your therapist know that you are in perimenopause, menopause, or post menopause. This life change impacts our mental health as well as our physical health!

β€œThe collision of ADHD and menopause is not a footnote. It is not rare. It is not a personal failing. It is a perfect storm that nobody warned us about, and the silence around it has cost too many women too much, for too long.”
