The team at AlmaVia of San Rafael pulled out all the stops for this year's Block Party! The theme? Carnival! 🎪🤡🌭🍬

The setup was loaded with all the typical carnival goodies and festivities. There was cotton candy, funnel cakes, corn dogs, snow cones, your typical carnival games, a balloon artist, and so much more! The community was buzzing, and quite a few visitors came by to tour the building.

🐿️ There was some hijinx happening after the local squirrel—affectionately named Alma—got a little too excited enjoying the community bird feeder and accidentally destroyed it. Nature walks are so beneficial for older adults. Gentle movement supports physical health, while being surrounded by natural beauty calms the mind and boosts mood. There's nothing like breathing in fresh air and chatting with friends along the way—it's exercise that doesn't feel like exercise.

✋💐 Bridgehaven memory care neighborhood residents recently made the most adorable hand bouquets. They traced their own hands, carefully cut them out, and crafted them into artsy little vessels to hold some beautiful greenery. Some residents gave their bouquets as gifts, while others proudly displayed them on the community billboard.

Tracing, cutting, and assembling keep hands nimble and minds engaged, while the creative choices help spark self-expression and imagination. Handmade, heartfelt, and beautiful!

🍦 The "How It's Made" program in the Bridgehaven memory care neighborhood got extra sweet this week as residents made homemade ice cream. 🍨😊 The timing couldn't have been more perfect as it was Nikoli's birthday, so it turned into a full-on celebration - Happy Birthday, Nikoli! 🎂🎉

Activities like this are wonderful for older adults. Making something from scratch encourages participation and gives everyone a sense of accomplishment.

🧁 Baking Club was in session as residents of the Bridgehaven memory care neighborhood whipped up some delicious cupcakes together. From measuring and mixing to frosting and taste-testing (the most important step, obviously), everyone pitched in to create these sweet treats.

Baking together offers so many wonderful benefits for older adults. It encourages teamwork, engages the senses, and brings back fond memories of time spent in the kitchen over the years.

💃✨ Before dinner, Bridgehaven memory care neighborhood residents got moving with a spontaneous dance party moment! All it takes is one person to get the music going, and resident Diana had everyone feeling the groove—as she usually does.🕺

Dancing is such a wonderful activity for older adults. It gets the heart pumping, improves balance and coordination, and releases all those feel-good endorphins. It was a great way to work up the appetite. Shoutout to Diana for always getting the party started!

🍫 Sweet escape to the city! Residents ventured across the bridge for a delightful lunch outing at Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco.

With its charming shops, iconic chocolate aroma wafting through the air, and stunning waterfront views, it was the perfect destination for a day out. The group enjoyed a delicious meal together and, of course, a very sweet treat after! 🍨🌉

A change of scenery lifts spirits, encourages conversation, and reminds everyone that adventure is always just a bus ride away.
