This is the essence of attachment wounds from childhood that manifest in these painful feelings throughout adulthood if left unattended.
We talk often about the inner child and it is all for good reason.
Your inner child is where you first learned how to feel about yourself, how to receive love, how to ask for support, and what to expect from others.
Those early experiences don’t just stay in childhood, they shape how you show up in adulthood by:
-how you set boundaries,
-how you love,
-how you trust,
-how you respond when someone gets close.
And the word wound is not a bad thing. I use it to explain that there is a part of you asking to be understood, held, and nurtured, so you can make sense of your patterns instead of blaming yourself for them.
Inner child work is an invitation back to yourself.
A chance to reconnect with the inner younger part of you who still influences your emotions, your fears, your relationships, and your self-worth.
When you meet them with compassion, you begin to meet yourself with compassion too.
Keep shining,
Dr L ✨
