Congratulations to Denis Simko, our 2026 Employee of the Year!
Denis received 4 glowing nominations for Employee of the Year. This is one of them, written by Ryan Kerouac, Emergency Department Manager, highlighting that he really should be recognized as Employee of the Decade!
"Denis has worked at BGH for nearly as long as I have been alive, and his longevity is matched by his unwavering dedication and positive presence. He comes to work each day with an upbeat attitude and consistently treats patients, staff, and coworkers with genuine respect. His professionalism and kindness set a standard that others naturally follow.
Over the past year, Denis has taken on the additional responsibility of helping ensure that all BGH staff become CPR certified, teaching at least one class per month. This commitment reflects his deep care for patient safety and his willingness to go above and beyond for the hospital and his community.
There is no single defining moment that makes Denis an outstanding candidate for Employee of the Year; rather, it is his years of devoted service and his commitment to doing the small but important things day in and day out. His reliability, attention to detail, and steady support make an enormous difference, even when his efforts happen quietly behind the scenes.
Without Denis, the Emergency Department would not be what it is today. His impact on the culture of the ED is truly unprecedented. He has helped shape an environment of teamwork, respect, and his influence will continue to be felt for years to come. For these reasons, Denis is exceptionally deserving of recognition as Employee of the Year, perhaps the nomination would be better expressed as Employee of the Decade."
Congratulations, Denis!
