Huge shout out to Brandt the owner of AAging Better In Home Care!! While the company has provided excellent in home care to elderly and pediatric clients in the Athol Spirit Lake area for many years, Brandt made a difference in a new way this year!! AAging Better In Home care sponsored a local little league team this year allowing a group of boys and girls to spend their spring on a baseball field!!
It was a great season , and gave several kids a great opportunity!

Qualifications: Six month’s experience in a health care environment caring for the elderly, such as in-home, nursing home, or assisted living facility, providing care for the elderly and disabled, including Alzheimer’s’ patients is preferred. Skills training will include knowledge of transfers, gait belts, food preparation and proper storage; nutrition needs of the elderly; bathing assistance; monitoring health and mental status of clients; medication reminders, and light housekeeping. All prospective Caregivers and CNAs must attend 8 hours of online classes following the Medicaid Matrix. CNAs must possess a current certification. Must be able to bend, twist, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push/pull at least 20 lbs., grasp, complete repetitive motion movements and combine standing/walking for 2-hour intervals. Valid Driver’s License and auto liability insurance are required to transport clients and obtain Travel Time. Must be able to clear a federal-level background criminal check. This is a variable hour position..

Functions/Duties:

1. Assist or performs activities of daily living for client, such as bed bath, showering, oral care, and/or shaving;
2. Provide for grooming hair and nails to assure cleanliness;
3. Provide passive range of motion movements/exercise as needed and directed;
4. Assist client with dressing as needed;
5. Provide appropriate skin care and prevention of pressure sores/ulcerations—not to include foot care for diabetics;
6. Perform light housekeeping on a weekly basis or as needed to ensure clean, neat, and safe environment. This may include light snow-shoveling;
7. Plan, prepare and store meals and snacks that provide safe, healthy and nutritious meals on a consistent basis;
8. Do laundry weekly, or as needed;
9. Provide grocery or miscellaneous shopping as outlined in client’s care plan;
10. Supervise clients to ensure safety and prevent falls;
11. Remind clients when medication is due and assist as legally appropriate;
12. Provide companionship, game-playing, walks, or outings as requested by the client;
13. Legibly and clearly document services provided to the client on the timesheet and progress notes reflecting the plan of care;
14. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs without physical limitation;
15. Be knowledgeable of and consistently utilize universal/infection control precautions.
16. Be able to assist the client with ambulation via a Gait Belt if needed, use transfer techniques appropriately, or use a Hoyer Lift correctly, when necessary after nursing delegation.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or delegated by nursing supervisors
