Firelands Health is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor who will be responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the general laboratory, microbiology and point of care services.

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution is required. At least four years of general lab experience in high-complexity testing is required, and three to five years of previous hospital supervisory experience is preferred.

Firelands Health has been in negotiations with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield regarding their MEDICARE Advantage plan contracts with Firelands Regional Medical Center (FRMC), Firelands Health The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) and Firelands Physician Group (FPG).

We worked to reach a new MEDICARE Advantage agreement with Anthem but were unable to agree on key terms needed to support patient care. As a result, our contract will end December 31, 2026.

Effective Jan. 1, FRMC, TBH and FPG will no longer participate in the Anthem MEDICARE Advantage plan and will be considered out-of-network.

FRMC, TBH and FPG will continue to serve Anthem commercially insured and Medicaid members, including Anthem MyCare, as in-network participating providers.

While we were hopeful of reaching an agreement with Anthem, prudent management could not allow us to continue under the existing payment levels.
