Throwback to a delightful afternoon at the Mansion at Strathmore! ☕🎶

Back in March, a group of Brooke Grove residents enjoyed a Jazz-themed Afternoon Tea filled with music, conversation, and a few special surprises. The performance by guitarist Rick Peralta and vocalist Renee Tannenbaum was made even more meaningful when two residents discovered they were reconnecting with longtime friends through the music.

Guests sipped Strathmore’s Signature Blend Tea while enjoying St. Patrick’s Day-inspired treats, including petite corned beef sandwiches, miniature potato pancakes, and shamrock sugar cookies. Residents also explored the Mansion’s tea-themed art exhibit and browsed the charming gift shop before settling in for an afternoon of entertainment.

It's always wonderful to look back on the experiences, friendships, and memorable moments that make life at Brooke Grove so special.

A few months ago, our Lunch Bunch ventured out to try a new restaurant, and it quickly earned rave reviews! 🍽️✨

The group visited Duke's Grocery Potomac, the first Maryland location for the popular local chain of British-style pubs. From the welcoming atmosphere to the delicious menu, it was a hit from start to finish.

Residents enjoyed a variety of dishes, including the flavorful Brisket Lane Sarnie—a hearty combination of corned beef brisket, house kraut, horseradish, pickle, and Swiss cheese served on crusty bread. 😋

Of course, great food is only part of a memorable dining experience. The Lunch Bunch was equally impressed by the friendly service and warm hospitality.

Exploring new places, sharing good meals, and making memories together is what these outings are all about, and this one was definitely worth the trip. We've already made plans to return! 🚐❤️

A few months ago, some of our Independent Living residents had the opportunity to attend Sherwood High School's beloved Rock & Roll Revival 54—and what a memorable evening it was! 🎶✨

One of the highlights of the night was cheering on a familiar face: Westbrooke Clubhouse Server and Sherwood High School junior, Graham Milner. Residents were amazed to see the same quiet, kind young man they know from the dining room take the stage with incredible confidence and talent. From his outstanding rendition of Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife" to his impressive drumming and beautiful harmonies on "Seven Bridges Road," Graham truly wowed the crowd. 🌟

After the performance, residents were thrilled to congratulate Graham in person and snap a photo with their very own rock star! 🎤

The evening was made even more special by a meaningful connection to Sherwood's history. Resident Bob Martin shared that the school's auditorium, the Ertzman Theatre, is named in honor of his uncle, a reminder of the many ties that connect our community to the broader Montgomery County community.

Thank you to Graham and all of the talented Sherwood students for an unforgettable show and a wonderful night of music, memories, and community. ❤️

One of the most common misconceptions in retirement planning is how long-term care is covered.

This week, we gathered for a beautiful afternoon tea party to celebrate Wanzie's retirement after 30 years of dedicated service to Brooke Grove Retirement Village.

Wanzie has touched countless lives throughout her time here, especially in dementia care, where her compassion, creativity, and ability to connect with residents and families made a lasting impact. From music and meaningful sensory experiences to beautifully decorated spaces filled with flowers and warmth, she created moments of comfort, joy, and connection every single day. 🌸

She brought beauty into every corner of Brooke Grove—transforming courtyards into peaceful oases, filling halls with the aroma of fresh-baked bread, and creating fun-filled experiences through skits, parties, parades, and celebrations that residents cherished.

More than anything, Wanzie helped shape the loving, person-centered care that defines Brooke Grove today. Her heart for seniors and her gift for making people smile will never be forgotten.

Our Independent Living residents recently enjoyed a beautiful trip to the National Cathedral Flower Mart in Washington, D.C.! 🌸🌿

This annual spring festival, hosted on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral, featured stunning floral displays from embassies around the world, garden and gift vendors, live entertainment, delicious treats, and more.
